Treatment continues
Hi everyone,
I'm currently recovering from mastectomy (26/5/15) after 2 previous surgeries to excise my breast lump. It's been a very big month of May!
I'm now awaiting medical oncology and radi...
Thanks everyone for your advice and information.
I think it's a case of wait and see. It's still early days recovering from surgery and not knowing what my following treatment plan is.
I live locally to my school and feel not entirely comfortable fronting a class of 28 year 5 students with their questions yet about why my hair is different now (because I'll be wearing a wig maybe?) and all the other questions and comments that children can innocently make.
My work colleagues are extremely supportive, but I think it would be more disruptive for my class (students & parents) if I'm away one week, back for two, then away again. In addition, classrooms full of students during the cold months can be full of germs, coughs and sneezes. Plus, my computer keyboard in my classroom could be used by 28 little hands, plus other teachers who venture in.
I can see myself doing costume repairs quietly at home in preparation for their performance, which might keep me out of mischief and feeling useful.
Who knows what I'll be doing. For me it's the great unknown, but it's been nice hearing what you've done during chemo.
Thanks
Karen xx
