@Blossom1961 & @JulieSav ... wishing you both the best in your recovery. SO glad the 'funny posts' give you a bit of a giggle .... big hugs coming your way from me xxxxx
You've both been running on adrenaline for quite a while--you only take so much of that. Try not to do too much either mentally or physically for the next week or so; you are not going to do yourself any favours by pushing too hard. The world will wait. Tit lopping is hard work and the few days beforehand are just awful. You are in a better place than you were last week (TF for that) so take the opportunity to take it easy. The drains are just digusting, but you can view them as a physical anchor that absolves you from the responsibility to get out and about unless you want to. Mxx
@Zoffiel I am handling the drains not too badly but the one in my anxillery is causing a lot of pain inside. I can actually feel where it is and it rolls. I have to get up at midnight to take a tramadol due to the pain and then up at 4 again but I won't take another. Panadol are a waste of time.
They are horrible when they are scratchy Blos. Don't be too worried about taking the tramadol, you shouldn't need them once the drain comes out and they are prescribed for a reason. Mxx
Hi @Blossom1961, I had one of my drains in for a number of weeks and found extra tape (micropore) to really tape it to your side and stop any swinging made a huge difference to the pain level. If you had axillary nodes out your underarm will feel like you've been attacked with a cheese grater for the first couple of weeks and then that will die down. Until then take your drugs, that's what they're there for. Big hugs lovely. Xx
@socoda I will ask my home nurse to put extra tape on today. That makes sense. @Sister Anything I put in my mouth at the moment blocks me up. The doctors have me on laxatives but they are barely working. I will speak to my BC nurse tomorrow as she is the only medical person who is concerned about it. I tried going off the laxatives but ended up in all kinds of pain even with all the high fibre foods and concoctions I was eating. Hence, ONE of the reasons I am hesitant to take extra pain killers. The doctor has me on a three week regime of high dosage laxatives. It is going to be so hard for my body to transition back to normal.
