I don't think there's anyone who isn't terrified about the surgery. I was. White as a ghost when I went in, so I'm told. I had a single mastectomy and reconstruction 2 years ago. Have just had my annual scans done, and the ultrasounds are clear. It's actually a huge relief to know one boob has gone, and with it the risk of cancer returning on that side. I think that in the long term, you will be very relieved not to have that nasty little shadow sitting on your shoulder. And yes, ignore well meaning people who make you doubt your decisions. You have a medical team, and they are the only ones who know every detail of your cancer. Treat yourself well before June 5 - bubble baths, aromatherapy oils in a burner, a massage if you can, long walks, a good book, anything that distracts you. Best of luck. Pam xx
