6th Day after Right Breast Wide Excision and Axillary Clearance

Hello Lovelies,I felt the need to post as I feel truly alone with the recovery symptoms being experienced this last week.I had a lumpectomy on Monday, 24th. June, 2013 and am feeling tempted to use the Panadiene Forte tablets prescribed by the hospital. The doctor also did an anxillary clearance of my lymph nodes Lvls I, II and III.I am not coping with the pain and discomfort in my arm and surrounding my nipple.I had an extra 3 nylon stitches placed around my nipple to add more support to breast as it is quite cumbersome. I am just not used to pain invading my body. How does someone live with pain like this 24 hrs a day?How long till the discomfort goes away?If someone can write and speak me through this, I would truly appreciate.I am beginning to feel I did the wrong thing by allowing the doctor the right to operate on me.I guess depression over the pain and whole procedure has caught up with me after 6 days of negative pain. Probably time to do a meditation and chill out. :)Blessings of Divine Love and Light to you all and thanks for being a part of my life, however painful it might be tonight. :) <3 <3 <3

  • wow such a positive attitude and a great way to think. sometimes we have to sit back and listen to our body and what it is trying to tell us. let me know how you go with your oncologist. fingers crossed it is all good

  • Thanks Julia. I have a strangeness about becoming dependent on codeine so my APAC nurse told me I can use Nurofen with the panadol osteo tabs. I felt unable to use codeine every time a twinge happened but panadol osteo just wasn't strong enough. Now I understand about "topping up" the panadol osteo. All is well and I can go home and relax as I found Glucosamend for the dog finally and had my midday meds at 2.40pm. Nurses and the physio changed my dressing and showed me exercises completely. Lunch and meds had to wait. Makes me "snippy" as my man puts it. :) Love and Light always, Swami Shoonyananda Saraswati
  • Dear Paula, Thank you for your kindness. All is well again today. I slept for 9.5hrs last night and have decided to just allow my body to recover from this surgery. If I need to rest or sleep, then that's what I will do. Pain is back to almost nothing again as I took the PF last night too. They're doing more than killing pain. I feel them relaxing and healing the stressed and upset nerves and cells in my armpit and breast. I see my oncologist tomorrow and have great news. The drain bag's only on 60ml this morning. Fingers crossed, it will stay low enough for Dr Moore's approval to remove it soon. Will exercise and get dressed now. Divine Love and Light to ALL with joy and peace, Shoonya <3 <3 <3 :)
  • i am so glad that you are feeling better. it is funny how a shower and washing our hair can make us feel a little better lol please dont ever think of yourself as a whimp. you are a survivor. lets hope the sun is shining again tomorrow.

  • Hi,

There is nothing wrong with taking painkillers as they are needed if it helps us to get through.

I hope you are feeling better from now on.

    Julia

  • Thank you, Paula. It is better this morning after speaking with the nurse from the Short Stay Surgery Unit, last night. I needed permission to take the stronger panadiene forte. They worked a treat as I did my exercises and have had a shower, to wash my hair too. Am back onto panadol osteo tabs this morning and the day is very sunny. I just don't know if I am being a sooky for whimping out and needing the stronger pain meds.......I won't allow things to get out of manageable range again. Hurting is a valid reason for taking them. I appreciate your kind, uplifting understanding and empathy. Will put the curtain aside and let the glorious sunshine in. Love n Light, Swami Shoonyananda Saraswati. :) <3
  • i am sorry to hear that you are in so much pain. but you are not alone. there is a light at the end of the tunnel the pain will get better. try a heat pack and taking pain killers but if you find that nothing really works ring your surgeon. just explain that you know that there is some pain but you need help getting through it.  im sorry that i dont have the answer or a magic wand. but hang in there and if you need to come on here and vent, it mite not take the pain away but just getting it out sometime helps.
