Vent & AC Side effects...

So this is my second year in the trenches. Was diagnosed with a sarcoma in my saliva gland last year, had surgery & radiation & pretty much got through it on my own. Went back for a one year post scan & that’s when they picked up the triple negative lump. Tried to still work through the first cycle of chemo but am running out of steam. Started my first dose of AC today & am headachey, dizzy & nauseous. I’m very sensitive to medication (generally try to take as little as possible, had to skip 2 doses in my first cycle & ended up only taking 1/2 of the carbo) But I feel so crap/over it atm that I want to take all the anti side effects meds (panadol, Zantac, maxolon)
Ive not taken maxolon yet, the handout suggests I take it the day after...has anyone taken this? Thoughts?
  • @Honkaprincess The medication I was sent home with from my first AC was as good as useless.  I went through absolute misery for days (into a weekend) and finally rang the clinic on the Monday.  They ended up faxing a script to my local chemist for better meds.  For me, the Maxalon was no better than taking Smarties.  I went on Ativan for nausea and Somac (later changed to Nexium) for indigestion and reflux.  These actually enabled me to lay down and sleep off the first few days of the cycles.  I've also taken Panadeine Forte when needed.  I would suggest that you contact the clinic this morning and tell them that the medication isn't doing it for you.  BTW, dizziness and headaches could be very low blood pressure - has this been checked out?
  • Maxolon is useless.  Ask for ondansetron.  Ac made me very dizzy and light headed as well, but yes, check your BP.
  • @Honkaprincess Maxolon worked for me during Paclitaxel but during AC took Ondansetron and an Ativan at night. Even then only made it through 3 of 4 cycles.
