TC Chemotherapy
Had Round 3 of TC chemo on Monday morning. Bone aches arrived like clockwork on Thursday night, but now on Friday, I seem to have lower back pain and hip pain for the first time as well. Is this normal? I have been walking 1.5 - 2 kms each day this week.
I am finding the variety, and variance, of side effects, to be weird. For example, Round 1, a little nausea, Round 2, a lot, Round 3, none so far.

- Kiwi_AngelMember@sister - thanks for that - temp has been fine. I think it’s more likely my tummy getting upset about the dulcolax I have been taking with the dex but I will keep a close eye on things xoxo
- SisterMember@"Kiwi Angel" I don't know much about TC and whether stomach cramps are normal with it but they can also be a sign of infection. (I know to my cost before bc when I had a kidney infection that I wasn't aware of and wound up in hospital for a week on massive amounts of antibiotics.) I'm sure you are, but keep an eye on your temp.
- kmakmMember@"Kiwi Angel" Indeed. Gotta stay flexible and sway with the breeze eh?
- Kiwi_AngelMember@kmakm u can only prepare so much!!
- kmakmMember@"Kiwi Angel" Agree. I was astonished at the variance between cycles. Hang in there. K xox
- Kiwi_AngelMemberFeel like crap today - my Thursday crash happened a day later and I have had terrible stomach cramps, some nausea, stupid bone pain and have not been able to get out of bed today. Just starting to feel marginally better and contemplating actually eating. Crazy how it varies so much cycle to cycle.
- primekMemberI couldn't have anything spicy or acidic on taxol as it just burned my guts and it was months after before I could again. So no pineapple, strawberries, kiwi fruit or capsicum for me...and sadly I couldn't even tolerate curry...the only thing I could taste. Sigh. But I still managed to get fat living off toasted cheese sandwiches.
- BlondyMemberKiwi Angel. I have not heard of the injection your having but there is no escaping some of the symptoms. I found day 3 after chemo the worst. Like the flu for aches and pains and I turned into the woman from hell lol. No patience, no concentration, no anything. So it was a very long few days. Couldn't read, watch TV,, just lay there watching paint dry. Wow. Luckily my husband left at 4am for work and arrived home at 9pm. Unfortunate for me as I could barely get down the stairs. Looking back I have to laugh. Yep laugh. By day 5 I began to feel better and for the next 2 weeks I felt great. It was dose 3 and 4 when the chemo was compounding that it was a little harder to recover and after dose 4 the thigh and top of arm muscles were weak. Uppermost in my mind during all of this was. It was my choice to have it. After margins and lymphs showing clear, chemo and radiotherapy was my insurance to guard against a return. Any side effects made me think that it was getting to any possible critters and killing them. It almost 3 months since my last chemo and I finished 20 radiotherapy sessions nearly 2 weeks ago. I am lucky I have barely had any fatigue. I've been working through all of this, on my good days during chemo and back regularly during radiation. I pace myself at work and find it uplifting to be there. Anything is better than my bed and four walls. Sometimes I would spend 5 or 6 days in bed. I feel right now, no different than before all of this started 7 months ago. Like a lot of people I was feeling better than I had ever felt in my life up till diagnosis. The good thing is, cancer didn't make me sick, the treatment did. Be patient Kiwi Angel you will be looking back on all of this soon. Eat well, drink lots and flush your body. You'll be back climbing mountains before you know it. @Kmakm we just have to keep kicking its ass.
- kmakmMemberSame here @Blondy. It's quite shocking isn't it? To call on your body to do something and have it say Nope. It does turn around but not immediately. Be kind to yourself @"Kiwi Angel". K xox
- Kiwi_AngelMember@Blondy - I have the Neulasta injection which doesn’t help bone pain and right on schedule it is slowly starting - feels like the back of my skull is bruised. It will probably kick in to back, hips and shoulders tonight. I was really struggling with the muscle weakness in my thighs, calves and arms last week but seems a little better this week. Will be glad when this is all over and I can start to regain my strength and start running again.
