Taxol

Greetings, I am currently at 5/12 Taxol treatments.  Going ok, but wanted to ask if others out there in Taxol land have had a rash....And have your eyelashes fallen out as mine have ?  I have had surgery, 4 rounds of Epirubicin & will be having radiotherapy & hormone treatment at the end of all treatment.  I did lose most of my hair so had my head shaved, now it is growing back & still red !!  Thought it may grow back grey or white..Only about 1/2 inch so far...will probably go again with radiotherapy!
  • @Wren20 sorry AC is another chemo combo I was on before the Taxol (don’t ask me to spell or pronounce them!)
the supraclav is the area where your clavicle bone is in your neck/shoulder it has lots of lymph nodes so we treat that area if any nodes may be involved. The field can sometimes clip your armpit and also throat so you may lose underarm hair and get a sore throat.
Haha I hope those spots disappear for you so you get double value!!!
  • Hi @Wren20,

Yes, had a severe skin rash from number 2 treatment.  Had to stay on prednisone the whole way through.  Started out like little bumps on arms and knees. Then turned a bit like eczcema, very dry and itchy.   Apparently not very common.  AC is   (Doxorubican and cyclophosphomide) that could be spelled wrong.  Often given before Taxol/Paclitaxel.  Supraclav is the lymph nodes higher up on the chest,  I manged to keep most of my eyelashes and eyebrows (not sure if the cold cap had anything to do with that).  Eyelashes did go but not until about 4 weeks after chemo had finished.  I had been out and had worn a lot of eye makeup that day,  I hit it with some eye make up remover and that took them out.  They did grow back really fast though.

    XOXO
  • Hi

I finished paclitaxol 5 weeks ago. My hair grew back during this regime and it’s still dark.  However my eyebrows/lashes fell out about 3 weeks ago(2 weeks after finishing).

    Everyone is different.

  • Hi JoeyLiz, Thanks for your lovely reply & info therein.  AC ...sorry, what is that please ? Oh good news re hair/radioth.  And what is supraclav...you are well versed in chemo & radio lingo !!  I am told that my spots / rash are actually skin cancers / age spots and that I am getting value with my treatments as they are "killing two birs" and that these spots etc will disappear. Takre care, thanks again.
  • I had a rash on taxol no.2 which they gave me phenergan for.....OMG never again hated that feeling! But no rash since. My eyelashes managed to stay through AC and Taxol (had no.9 today). My hair is growing back too! Radiotherapy only causes the hair to fall out in the area being treated so depending how high the fields go or if your getting your supraclav treated you may lose your underarm hair on that side, the hair on your head is safe!!! :)
