Tamoxifen

@kmakm I am pretty lucky and the effects for me are not too bad. I just need to kick myself in the ass to get motivated - I have been for 2 x 5km runs this week and a 5am Pilates session this morning so am feeling quite good. Was just going to go for an early walk tomorrow to stretch out the muscles. The hot flushes are slowly easing off and I have worked out medication to be able to sleep a lot better during the week. Just have to work out the best way to live the new version of me. How are u doing?

@"Kiwi Angel" Will you now seek menopause after cancer advice on how to manage the symptoms?

@Milly21 During my full body scan they found I had a 9.2cm fibroid. I have been having pains in my side for months prior to this but they just shrugged their shoulders and said ‘unrelated, fibroids don’t cause pain’. So I think maybe I have IBS but no one interested in finding out. I do find adapting my diet to FODMAP helped. PS I am not on tamoxifen or any other hormone type drugs.

Thanks for replying,I feel better knowing other have this issue too and it is treatable,when I left appointment I was worried as I know rarely tamoxifen can cause another type cancer ,they saying they needed to check that lining more carefully as ultrasound won’t show much in that? I apparently have uterus fibroids too,I do get pelvic pain I thought pain side effect of tamoxifen,but maybe the thicker lining,fibroids the problem,not sure?

Well at least you have been able to differentiate.  Menopause is difficult for some and pretty easy or a non event for others!  

Hope you are able to work your way through menopause and the side effects of tamoxifen remain minimal

I am a month in to my 6 week break off tamoxifen so it should be out of my system by now. Pretty much don’t feel any different. Maybe a little more motivation and a little less joint pain but apart from that pretty much the same. I guess this is just me now after being hurled into menopause. On the upside, it appears that I don’t really get any side effects from tamoxifen. 

Yes similar problem and as a result under the care of a Gynaecology Oncologist.
With his care all under control and into annual review appointments.

Hi @Milly21, like @LucyE, i also had hyperplasia and had several polyps removed with hysteroscopies while on Tamoxifen.  After the 3rd one in 3 years, I was advised to switch to Arimidex. I am 58. Good luck, hope you get some good advice. Xxx
