Tamoxifen and aches n pains

Ball of the foot, bones, mainly the legs and now the gums..............side effects, don't they drive you nutty!  I'm assuming Tamoxifen is the culprit, geez, only 2 months and 8 years to go............only plus is that it is intermittent! 

Hey @Claudia79, yep my pain is also intermittent, no rhyme or reason to it and I'm the same in that I'm not going to let it get the better of me.  I would think that your time frame would be pretty good for your running after exchange but best to check with surgeon as it would totally be the pits to do damage  from running too soon. Xx

Hi @socoda , yes my pain goes from the ball of my left foot as well n Achilles' tendon (same foot) 
thats weird! 
The pain, comes n goes, if I rest a couple of days, I can run (I won't b defeat by a side effect) n I'm doing all the exercises that he recommend to make the ligaments stronger... 
I'll ask my oncologist next time I see him... but one thing for sure is that neither of them wants me to quit running..

I would love to do run Melbourne at the end of July... but my surgery for implants exchange is on 5th of June... (too soon????) 
I can't wait to say good bye expanders!!!

Hi @Claudia79 , I have not had pain in my achilles but do get pain in the ball of my left foot (what the?) and have tried various things - I have changed my runners, am going to change my work boots and have also put in inserts to cushion my foot more, but have only had this pain since Tamoxifen. I also get pain in my knees and have only last week started sleeping with a bolster under my knees (had one for my bed to look pretty) - I have to say that I have found myself bouncing out of bed rather than doing the 90year old creak (@PAmmy46 give it a try and see how you go!!). Will let you know if I manage to get rid of my foot ache :s Xx Cath

@Pammy46 @Claudia79 I was on Tamoxifen for 4yrs from 2011 to 2015 and in my early 40's, I still had a period but it lasted about 3 days only and was light. at 47 I had to do chemo due to a recurrence, and it threw me into menopause, my period stopped altogether. I am now on Arimidex as Tamoxifen didn't work. I didnt think these meds stopped your period but maybe can lessen it,  depends where you are in regards to menopause too? Hugs Melinda xo

i haven't got my period yet (I finished chemo August 2016 n started tamoxifen end of September)
however I've feeling like pms since a week ago

i have not noticed that kind of pain but def my knee pain has increased I am constantly icing it! 
But would like to know if anyone still menstruates on tamoxifen I got a bad one on Sunday exact day they were due I thought they stopped? 

A friend of mine was on tamoxifen and did experience the Achilles pain. Her oncologist changed her to Femora and it helped.

Im with @meclarity , I to am a runner & only started suffering the pain after Chemo... I just keep running, ignoring it in the hope it will go away.

I should say though, while I am aware of the pain its not bad enough to stop me running, I mean, I can feel it & I know its there & though my times arent as good as they once were I still manage to keep going regardless...

Bring on Mothers Day Classic :) then bring on The Gold Coast Airport Marathon :) I will not be defeated!!!

Hey! I dont believe its the Tamoxifen but rather chemo side effects. I took Tamoxifen 4yrs but no chemo then and had no side effects. 

Im on Arimidex now and have chronic pain but its also due to chemo my oncologist told me. Also depends where you are in relation to menopause. 

Maybe others have a different experience on Tamoxifen but i honestly didn't. Hope you find a way around the pain.  Hugs Melinda xo
