Swollen glands around neck

Hi.
I've just had my first chemo five days ago.  Today my mouth was very tender but I also noticed as the day progressed that all of the glands around my neck were very tender and swelling. It's of course 3am and I'm not sleeping because if the tightness in my neck.
  • Hi there @Tweed, I just wanted to jump in also and recommend that if you have any concerns, such as tightness around your neck, then it might be best to just check in with your health professional, if it is just to discuss the side effects you might be experiencing. I hope you start to feel a little better soon and if you need any help online please just let me know.
  • Hi Tweed, sorry I can't help you with your question but I wanted to welcome you!  Wishing you all the best with your treatment.  All the wonderful women here have had different diagnoses and treatment so you will always find someone ready to help and offer support.  We are all here for you.   Jane xx
  • Tweed Welcome!! I just wanted to add to Kath, that make sure you rinse your mouth with salt water, as you will get mouth ulcers. I was so incredibly ill on Chemo so it could be just side effects, but as Kath said, keep an eye on your temp and I'd call your Oncology Nurse tomorrow just to double check. Hugs Melinda xo
  • I always got this on day 5. It feels flu like. Sore neck and my back and skin hurt. Keep up fluids and have panadol and it should settle within 24 hours. Keep an eye on your temp. I used to worry I was getting sick but it happened every cycle and passed. But worthy to watch the temp anyway to keep your mind at ease.
