Struggling with Nausea

@Cassina tell your Team, sounds like you are allergic to Maxolon, that did the same to me! made me weird and jittery, so they said I was allergic. I used Ativan, that was the only thing that helped settle me, its not for Nausea, but I slept!! No anti Nausea meds worked at all. I also suffered muscle, joint and bone pain all of it on Taxol unfortunately by week 5 it didn't let up normally id have 2 days of being ok, but it accumulated and I had 7 days back to back til the end. Im drug sensitive so unable to take painkillers, so lived on panadol osteo and nurofen but honestly it barely touched the sides. Hang in there, do a day at a time. Nexium is great too for heartburn, the best!! xx

@KatherineH Yes I was also put on a drip and in hospital for 2nd, 3rd and 4th infusions of FEC  for 2 days. I also couldnt hydrate at all, it did help but was tough going just the same. I just tried to get through each day as best I could. No anti nausea meds worked for me but Ativan helped alot. x

@KatherineH on the topic of nausea. My oncologist armed  me with anti-nausea medication. Any hint of nausea to take it before it developed fully. I was lucky and only had to use the tablets sometimes. I used to suck on icy poles to keep fluids up .I also had fruit sorbets that helped with fluid intake and mouth ulcers which I deveoped. Anything with ginger is also recommended for nausea.  May or may not help. Talk to your oncologist there are different medications you can try.

Primek, I'm just being a wuss lol. Everything about cancer is scary. Now I've noticed white facial hair growing wtf is it the chemo or zoladex or just menopausal symptoms. It's all yuk.

@LMK74 The neulasta makes chemo so much safer for us though. I haven't tried it (didn't know until finished)  but claratyne apparently helps. I just had panadol and begged my hubby to stroke my back abd neck as it ached. It was only 1 night for me. Much better than getting really sick from infection. I didn't need it on taxol. Kath x

Thanks Primek. It's handy having a nurse on hand lol. You're a wealth of information. The neulasta thing scares me after what I've heard, really don't want it.

@LMK74 Yes I should think if you have the dex each time it should remain the same each round. You'll get tireder. And you might get muscle aches after neulasta which you will probably start round 2 but nausea shouldn't get worse.

Primek, if I've had no nausea this round on ac does that mean all my rounds will be the same. I took one 4mg dexmethisone each morning for four days as my oncologist said this way it should not keep you awake. I loathe taking anything lol.

PS...I tend not to list all my side effects I had...as we are all different and it can scare people so much they wont have chemo "just in case" they get them. I too was sadened taxol wasn't the walk in the park I was lead to believe. 

Are you on reflux medication?...this for me was really the biggest issue and caused most of my sickness feeling when on it if I didn't take the medication. 

Yes it's cumulative. I didn't have nausea as much as terrible tummy burns. I did continue with nexium and sometimes needed zantac and the odd stemitil. Make sure you tell about the pains in fingers and toes. I used to get awful leg pain about day 3. I took regular panadol osteo and tramadol when really bad. I got really miserable on taxol as it was weekly so you didnt get the break as you did from AC (the no issues was the intense nausea and constipation issues with AC) 
Again maybe try stemitl instead as the restless legs might be the maxalon. It could be from neuroparhic pain though. I didn't get tingling in toes until about dose 8. I was on really high doses of steroids on taxol as I had an allergic reaction to the drug at st dose. Once the steroids were cut back it was all better, that wasn't for some time. I just stayed up watching netflex as I couldn't sleep. 

I did get balance issues, tinnitus on it. Soubds awful I know. But a few weeks after I was good and 5 months on its a distant memory. I think I have chemo amnesia.

I struggled with all spicy foids. Veg tasted disgusting and red wine burned my gut...as did fruit. But it recovers.

I like to say really...taxol not better than AC just different. It's all horrid. But it's effective chemo. X

Hi cassina, I've just finished 12weekly paclitaxel and just done my first ac chemo this last Tuesday. I got hand and foot syndrome starting after about treatment six. My feet and hands just burn and red. How did you do on ac?.
I felt a bit nauseous the last few treatments of paclitaxel.
