Skin irritation from continually weeping eyes

I finally finished my chemo two weeks ago but my eyes are still continually weeping from the docetaxel. This has caused the skin on my cheeks to go red, dry & scaly like it’s burnt from the tears. Definitely not a good look not to mention the discomfort.
Has anyone experienced this & how did you manage it, protect & repair your skin?
  • The paw paw cream is amazing. I had no redness in my skin when I woke up this morning.
The bright sunny weather really caught me off guard yesterday as it’s been so long since we have had nice sunny days here. I hadn’t realised just how sun sensitive I am. I’ve always been a person who avoids the sun during the middle of the day as much as possible but it wasn’t even that warm a day yesterday ...... scary thought with summer coming. I’m definitely going to be living in my sun glasses.
The auto tint sounds good & saves having to swap glasses around. However, I was told to wait 6 months post chemo before having my eyes re tested & getting new glasses .....
  • I got a new pair of glasses with auto tint which works when out in the sun. Mostly I avoid actually going out in bright sun as my nails don't like it either.
  • Hi again, I wear cotton gloves to bed after smothering MooGoo all over my hands. I do sometimes use eye drops for dry eyes and yes, I wear sunglasses, even when it is raining, as my eyes have become sun sensitive. Another of the joys of treatment ! I have also got a pair of cheap clear safety glasses, bought from Officeworks) in my car in case there is a lot of wind or dust and I have to be outside.
  • Oh yes...really irritated skin after taxol. Try not to wipe but pat.
I did wear a tinted moisuriser which helped protect the area. Hope it improves soon.
At night a barrier cream or even vaseline may help.
  • Thank you Sunnyvic & Blossom, I went & bought paw paw cream & it feels lovely on my skin. I also got some long lasting eye drops for dry eyes. I’m not currently on steroids but I do like the moo goo ..... I just wasn’t sure of it for this issue. I do use the moo goo Shea butter on my feet for dryness. That has helped heaps. It may be good for your hands Sunnyvic ...... try using it at night with cotton gloves?
I had an issue when out as we stopped at Bunnings on the way to the chemist. My eyes started to really burn, sting & weep ...... I couldn’t see properly & the pain was intense. It took me a while to find my sunglasses in my handbag & I had to seek a shady area. I seem to have gotten very sun sensitive ...... I hope my eyes settle down soon as we are coming into spring & summer .....
  • Hi @Scaredycat My eyes wept but didn’t cause any issues. I did have a reaction to the steroids which caused my cheeks to have the burning scaly reaction so I kept on putting on moogoo. It didn’t stop or fix it but it temporarily took away the burn. I ended up stopping the steroids.
  • Hi I have weeping from the corners of my eyes and I have been putting paw paw cream on a cotton bud and gently putting it on the red chapped area. It is very sore but the cream seems to help. I also get a runny sore nose and I do the same thing just inside my nostrils.
My hands are in a terrible state with redness, rash and skin peeling and I use MooGoo for that as it seems to help.
