Side effects of Herceptin

Hi! I would appreciate any comments or suggestions please!

I had my first Infusion/dose? of Herception on Thursday. It will be given once every 3 weeks for 52 weeks (17)

Friday morning at 1.20am I woke feeling nauseous (like morning sickness) I had a drink and went back to bed. When I got up a had a fuzzy head and still nauseous. I took a Stemetil and two panadol. The Stemetil kicked in and the nausea went but still felt fatigued and fuzzy.
Saturday the nausea hit me at about 9:30am and I took a Stemetil and the nausea eventually went. Still had headache n fuzzy again.
This morning (Sunday) the nausea hit me again at about 9:30am and again after taking a Stemetil the nausea went but feel like I'm in a fog and very weary.

Is this normal?

Next week I'll also be starting Taxol so just trying to get my head around everything.

Thank you.

  • I just got really tired on it but adjusted to it. I think the fist few are harder and then your body adjusts. When I had a short break and they gave me a loading dose to restart it made me very tired again. I guess we are all different. Don't be afraid to take some panadol for the headache and keep up the fluids. Hope things improve for you. Kath x
  • Can't help much I'm afraid as I seem to have had no side effects of Herceptin (same regime). I did have some side effects from Taxol (but not nausea). I am confident the side effects were Taxol not Herceptin, as the Taxol was for 12 weeks and the side effects either stopped or started to improve after I finished Taxol in spite of another 9 months on Herceptin. Was anything else administered? Anti nausea meds? One of the anti nausea meds sent me completely soporific, until my oncologist agreed to drop it (as I had no nausea).
