Side effects after chemo

Hi everyone,

i completed 16 doses of paclitaxel two weeks ago. My oncologist thought that I could cope with starting faslodex injections. I'm not sure whether  the faslodex made my feet and arms swell or the residual chemo. I also have aches in my bones and muscles.

Has anyone had this happen after finishing paclitaxel? I'm not feeling well at all, nearly as bad as I was on chemo.I am not seeing my oncologist for three weeks and I'm not looking forward to Christmas feeling unwell.

Hope everyone does have a lovely Christmas and enjoy time with family.

Cheers

Karel????

  • Hi Karel,

I hope you have a merry christmas, I went to my oncologist the other day and found out I have Peripheral Neuropathy which is caused through chemo, I only have 3 chemos left thank goodness it could be something left over from chemo but I'm not an Oncologist, eventually my oncologist is planning to put me on Tomoxiphen as I haven't officially gone through Menopause yet but that could change, I don't know if I've been any help but I hope I have, I love this time of year even though bc takes so much from us we still have each other to lean on, we are stronger than bc no one can take that away from us we are stronger than the treatment, have a happy christmas and a happy new year, sending you a cuddle and a smile and loads of positive vibes.

  • Hi Karel,

I am 4 weeks finished from 12 x paclitaxel and are experiencing the same side effects as you.....I was expecting to start feeling better but are actually feeling worse! In talking to my oncologist, he says it is the accumulation of the AC and paclitaxel  treatments. Unfortunately it does make it hard to prepare for Christmas.....I wish you all the best, Wendy xx

  • Hi Karel,

It could be a little bit of both I have 3 rounds of Paclitaxel left and virtually the whole time I have had swollen ankles, feet and calves I spoke to my chemo nurse today and she said to tell my oncologist tomorrow, be strong the doctor will know.

  • Thanks Brenda,

I am thinking of ringing my oncologist on Monday to check these side effects

    Cheers

  • One of the side effects you should call your doctor about if severe or they do not go away when taking Fluvestrant (brand name Faslodex) is swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs. It is not listed under the serious side effects to call the doctor immediately. Copied from a cancer.gov site.
