Radiation - one week to go

Just finished 25 sessions of radiation. All was fine until this last week. Weeping under breast, so red and sore. I Emotions are not going too well either. All over the place. I am hoping this is normal and I am not loosing the plot totally. Just feel the eyes water up at the wrong times. The clinic dresses under the breast but I find the edges of the shinny side of the dressing irritate the burns. Usually just lather solugel on when I get home. Five more to go. Margaret

  • At least there is a break on weekends. I was told it will get worse so just bracing myself for next couple of weeks. Wearing a bra seems best at the moment as it put less stress and movement on the sore parts. My nipple is extra sore and the nurse suggested wearing a nursing pad to protect it. Thanks for support and hugs, it is good to have somewhere to vent.

  • Sorry to hear you are not feeling on top of things. I was just like you, my skin started to crack and weep around No. 20. The hospital were dressing it but it's a constant reminder all the time of what we are going through. I was crying at the drop of a hat also. Tell them it is irritating you and they may have another option when they dress your wound. They told me it could get worse for up to a couple of weeks after treatment, but at least you can use healing creams that won't conflict with the radiation. Hang in there, it does get better and if you want to have a good cry, do it. You're entitled with what you have been through. Sending big hugs to you, take care,
