new pain, could the cancer of spread already?!
Hi everyone, am I going crazy? I had a double mastectomy nov 2016 & after chemo, radio, oopherectomy, then implant exchange 2 months ago.
I've been having a lot of pain in my scapula (shoulder blade) on the side my 140mm tumor was, which was my whole breast. As the pain is so close, I'm worried, heat packs, osteo etc treatment is not helping. Thinking of getting another bone scan, but I had 1 about 9 months ago, so maybe too soon cos those tests have risks.
Or is this a standard type of pain from last surgery? I had a pain in lower back ribs no one could work out for years, it stopped once tumor was removed, so this is why I'm worried.
Just getting over a cold as well that lasted prob 5 weeks. My body needs a break!

- beccabeccaMemberThanks @brightspace, sorryto hear your situation, I imagine it would be really worrying.
That's another good point, the tablets damage bones etc. The ongoing joys I guess! - brightspaceMemberHi becca
We dont stop worrying
I have stable mets to my lungs
Nonot too soon to have another.scan....had back issues so asked onc it was just 9 mths..no prob
Just degenerative changes
This is the only issue so have to do back stretching exercises
All best
Bright - beccabeccaMemberThanks girls/ladies, you comments have put me at ease a little.
Had an xray, which I know will be clear cos I haven't broken or fractured anything. At this stage I have a bone scan late next week, I had 1 in mid Nov, so prob not great having another 9 months later, but will give an answer at least - beccabeccaMemberThanks @kmakm
I might try an exercise physio, my osteo has suggested pilates as I know my core is really week these days. This pain is bad, I have no problem tolerating my normal back or hip pain, but this is worse. Like you, my right shoulder is usually lower. Thanks for sharing. - kmakmMemberI carry all my stress in my left shoulder blade. The pain can sometimes be excruciating. The winter doesn't help either as the cold makes me scrunch up my shoulders to my ears just about.
I got the exercise physiologist to have a look at it and she watched me walk and observed I walk with my right shoulder lower than the left. So as @arpie says, pay attention to your posture. Engage your core and all that Pilates jazz. Good luck and let us know how you get on. K xox - beccabeccaMemberThanks, I have seen a few new osteo's last few weeks as mine has gone on maternity leave, they don't work the same & maybe have caused the issue from the waythey treated, even though it hasn't happened straight after treatment & treatment felt gentle enough. Frozen shoulder isn't great.
Thanks for your suggestions & thoughts. - iserbrownMemberA visit to the GP and then a visit to a Physio may help, especially if it is posture related...….we tend to favour a certain side, without realising as we protect the breast. I wasn't far off a frozen shoulder apparently by the time I gave in and went to the Physio; I didn't want anyone to touch anything as I became so overly protective. I couldn't raise my arm up my back and that was the trigger for me as I thought all the aches, and to a certain degree I was correct to think that, were directly related to surgery.
Take care - beccabeccaMemberThanks @arpie you've made some really good points.my pain seems to be most annoying when sitting at comp for work. Or I notice it then. I may need to pay attention to my posture, as I am generally sore & lethargic so probably not sitting or standing the best.thanks again
- beccabeccaMember@Kiwi Angel yes I will get scans done, more tests, but I need to know, as it was stressing me out. Thanks
- beccabeccaMember@Sister thanks, that is a good point as there has been a lot of trauma on that side. & also I was resting/lying round with cold so that probably wasn't good.but I will get more tests just for peace of mind
