Neuralgia.....numbness hands & feet
Hi all. Just wondering what others have done about the numbness of hands/feet due to Taxol treatments please ? I have just had Round 9/12 treatments and the past week & a half I have been experiencing numb hands, feet, fingertips and today a sore / numb knee. I am taking B complex, olive leaf & magnesium /bark....also taken a couple of Aspro Clear.....

The chemo also helped my scleroderma whilst taking it, but now is back to what it was before, and even a bit worse, I'd say. Methotrexate is often used for scleroderma anyway, and this is a chemotherapy drug, although I'm not on it. I knit a lot of babywear, as well as for toddlers and also adult items. Whatever takes my fancy, really. Basically...if I'm sitting...I'm knitting...I see, so no meds then ! At least not for neuropathy.....I will just have to continue on then with olive leaf, vitamin B complex, keep moving etc.. Yes! Me too...sitting = knitting, or painting, or jigsaw, or sewing, or reading....it's raining here right now...hooray !! It has been SO dry. Cheers, AllyJay, have a good day.
- Wren20MemberAAllyjay...what a lovely project for the lucky recipients. I love fingerless gloves. I have only ever knitted mittens, not gloves...one day !! My Mum was a knitter, as yours, she made most of our clothes too with sewing...four girls under five years of age !! Necessity and a lot of skill and work. We always looked cute, neat, tidy and all co.ordinated...same dress, different colour for each of us. I am self taught at all I do, but I am sure I did learn just by watching Mum.
- AllyJayMemberAaah another member of the pointy stick brigade @iserbrown ,,, These Ascot bow tie scarves are my go to for quick and easy, as opposed to classic scarves which just go on forever!!
- iserbrownMember@AllyJay from a fellow knitter that is a great effort!
I, like you, always have something on the go and can't just sit and watch TV unless I am knitting. Mum made sure all us girls knew how to knit.
At present our local CWA group are making cowls (short scarves) in lighter wool for Mothers Day gift for the ladies of the local Nursing home, at present there are 47 ladies in the Home. I've made 5 in 4ply and on my second in 5ply. Too thick in ply and we figure they wouldn't be worn but we see it as something to dress themselves up a bit. Always open to suggestion for ideas
One of my sisters is busy making fingerless gloves, in all sizes, as part of the fundraising for the Relay for Life - last year Samantha, my niece, had all her hair cut off to support me!

I told my onco I'd rather go into my coffin later with velcro, rather than earlier with buttons and stuck it through. I'm an avid knitter, and although I have severely swollen and stiff jointed fingers due to an autoimmune disease, as well as the numbness from the neuropathy, I still enjoy my knitting. Get through about ten 100g balls of yarn a month. Hi AllyJay....so did you take any meds to alleviate neuropathy? I do have Rheumatoid Arthritis, at least I did have prior to BC diagnosis....the BC drugs seemed to be masking or alleviating RA. Indeed, when all this numbness began, I couldn't tell if were Ra or neuro .... , what type of things do you knit with your 100g 10 balls a month ? I am now doing a vest. Have a good day, thanks for your message.

It's 15 days to my bilateral mastectomy and reconstruction so I'm feeling nervous. Well done on the buttons! And the knitting. Incredible to think you could do that with numb fingers. Hope you sleep well. K xox Good morning kmakm. Thanks for your comments. This numbness stuff has just been for the last week and a half, so had all the jacket knitted, but yes ! , quite an effort to get those buttons on last night. For you, the next 15 days wait will be anxious and hard....try to keep calm, busy (as I know you would be with all you have going on with your family and yourself), distract yourself by going to a movie, a walk, dinner out with a good friend. Eat well & healthy too to help your recovery. Keep in touch. Have a great day today.

- Wren20MemberOh! Thanks kmakm...I don't think I would have guessed that...acronyms eh !!
How are you going ?? I hope that you are travelling well, enjoying this autumn/summer weather and doing things that you love to do. Despite my numb fingers etc., I have just managed to sew on six buttons to a ribbed long line cardi that I knitted for our granddaughter at Taxol treatments, so that little mission is accomplished !! Thanks again for answering my query, good night .
