letrozole

Hi all, I have two more days of rads to go and then I am supposed to start on Letrozole.  I am concerned as every drug I take makes me ill . Had a bout of reflux and my Dr gave me the mildest drug she could which culminated in a blinding headache for 2 days.  She told me to just try to keep something in my stomach at all times with no drugs, so I have been eating lots of milk arrowroot biscuits which seem to help.  I was wondering if anyone out there has gone alternative to deal with the side effects of Letrozole as I would rather do it naturally if I can. Have done a lot of reading up but would like to hear from anyone who like me cannot tolerate drugs and has tried another way.  Kester

  • Not everyone  has issues. The risks  of not taking  it are far greater. You really won't  know until you do and from what I have read ...for most...symptons settle over time. If not there  other other medications they can try you on. I think we need to keep an open mind with these things. As I said I have arthritis . ..in my spine ,  hands and knees and ankles. Only my ankles feel stiff for 10 mins in the morning or after sitting extended periods. So I guess...moving more helps.
  • Thanks girls, one ,ore problem . I am allergic to seafood of any sort shape or size. Have tried but risk is to great. Also have arthritis in almost every joint so bad some days I can hardly get around. Not sounding too good for me
  • The fish oil is for the joint pain believe. Sorry for confusion.
  • I haven't had any joint pain or aches with Letrozole, but do have vaginal dryness. I also take fish oil but haven't noticed it doing much for the dryness, maybe I'll up the dose☺️
  • There is no natural alternative to letrozole. The  main side effects is arthritis type  pain in smaller joints. But once up and moving mine go away, sonetimes needing panadol. Vaginal  dryness I manage with replens . But there is a natural product called yes. Some people swear  by fish oil capsules...perhaps just increase the fish naturally. I guess you won't know  until you start but I have been pleased so far on the medication as was expecting lots if issues like I had with chemo.
