Last ac cancelled

What a journey so far !!!! I have had 3 ac and I am so terribly sick. Just about passed out in oncologist's surgery, he is quite worried about me. my body cannot handle any more of this ac so hoping the 3 I have had will do the job !!!!!!Have to see him again this week to see when I am going to start the 12 x weekly palax ones. Has anybody else had this happen. I am sooooo exhausted and sick lucky for me I have a great husband who is doing everything for me. Even to have a shower is awful.
Hoping things do improve.

Truly, that drug combination needs to be outlawed I think. With all the money thrown at breast cancer you would think there would be something that could be used doesn’t almost kill you. It’s cruel and I have had nightmares that I needed another dose. I hope you recover well without any further problems. Paclitaxel is truly so easy compared to AC. Xx

It is a horrible drug I agree and what it does to you it just unbelievable sending hugs xx
  • AC chemotherapy isn’t kind to most of us. I ended up in hospital  3 times out of the 4 doses, husband had to help shower me, I wasn’t good to anyone. One of my AC treatments was pushed out to 3 weeks ( not 2) for my body to rest before next dose. So I know exactly where you are coming from......
I finished the last dose at a reduced rate.
Your Oncologist will do what’s best for you. You still have Pactlitaxel to go . Believe me that’s a walk in the park after AC.

I know of a lady that was having the same treatment as me and didn’t complete the last AC treatment due to health issues.
There were quite a few of us that struggled for the whole 8 weeks of AC during my treatment.

Take care, rest up, be kind to,yourself, stay positive.
You will get through this, sending hugs and positive vibes xx

I appreciate your reply xx I have been so worried about my energy level and not getting any better. See the oncologist today so see what he has to say. thanks again and staying positive, hope you are doing ok as well? xx

I'm sure many woman have had to. I had herceptin stopped early as affecting my heart. My surgeon said I don't want you to survive breast cancer only to die from heart disease. He believed my treatment though modified was enough. 4 years on and going strong.

Thank you I was just so worried that I have not got a little bit of energy at all. glad you are going strong 4 plus onwards. xx
  • Oh and I was sick as a dog every cycle but last...which was just weird. I was so happy when that was finished. I found taxol hard too, but completely different from AC and nausea was never an issue. Just reflux.

You’ve had a miserable time, so fingers crossed that paclitaxol is easier. Most people find it is. I was the odd one who had the reverse, almost no side effects (except hair loss) with A/C and more with Taxol, but while it’s unusual it’s presumably not unheard of. Even the best oncologists can’t know for certain what your reaction will be until you try, and you know you have the benefit of the treatment to date. With the best will in the world (your recovery!) most oncologists will try and keep going for as long as possible, so a judicious amount of overkill is built in to the regimen. You have the knowledge that you have done as much as you can. No-one can ask for or expect more. Give yourself a pat on the back for sticking with it as long as you have. Best wishes.
