  • That's interesting. If you don't mind me asking what age were you when diagnosed?

  • Thanks Paula.  Yes they did fund it.  Due tour ages and the type of cancer.  Triple neg at a youngish age is a red flag.

  • They are my thoughts too.  Good luck.  Have you finished chemo ?

  • Wow well that is an interesting history. It will be interesting to see if your sister has the gene. I have often wondered if I have it which is why I am waiting for a genetics appointment. I am pretty sure I won't qualify for testing though as no family history. Did you have to pay for yours or was it covered?

My first diagnosis I had a reaction to taxotere so was treated with FEC. 2nd time I neede the taxotere and so was given lots of antihistamines with it. It wasn't pleasant doing chemo twice in 18mths. I did get through it though as you will also. I hope your counts remain good.

Make sure you hydrate yourself for a full 24hours before chemo, over the whole day not just in one hit before your chemo. Your veins will be much easier for them to find. Rug up also as they are easier to find if you are warm.

    Good luck.

  • My sister got breast cancer 19 years ago at age 34.  Back then they removed 13 lymph nodes all clear.  She has had no recurrence.  No other family history (large family and lots of women) we are awaiting her results and my mother's who is 79,  due on 24 September.  My sister has been told she probably has the gene too!

Ps got to oncology last Monday to find out that they had consulted widely and decided to change my drug (EC) of which I've completed 4 rounds three weeks apart to a further 3now of Taxel as the EC has long term side effects,of heart trouble and bone marrow if given too much.  Find out my plates were too low when I gave blood on Saturday so had to have blood taxied off for testing while I waited. The tears started when the nurse had trouble with the veins.. I'm so fearful now as it hurts. they try a couple of veins before they succeed and leave me with bruises!   I've decided some nurses can do it and some just can't and next time I'm insisting on my favourite! Finally started on the Taxel after lunch Monday and am now waiting to see if I suffer any of  the different side effects as I didn't really have many problems with the EC.

  • Hang in there you are on the downhill run now. I remember that feeling well, not wanting to go for more. However yiu will get there. Did you have a family history? Or was the genetic result a big surprise. I have not been tested yet as I'm waiting for an appointment. I have no family history though.

    Hugs to both you girls.

  • Thanks Tanya.  You do look young and healthy, I'm guessing you decided against the double M?
