Hypnosis for hot flushes

Hi Ladies, Has anyone used hypnosis for the treatment of hot flushes? I am at my wits end, having put up with these now for about 8 years. Sometimes I will get them every half an hour. A good day is when I get only 6 to 8, but they are rare days. I have been doing some research that suggests that hypnosis can be as effective as HRT, but this is based on small studies. If anyone has had had success with this, or could recommend someone in the Perth area, I would love to hear from you. Love Chris xx

  • Here's a study that found acupuncture helped with the hot flushes.http://www.breastcancer.org/research-news/20140221-3

Same study showed that a control group who were given pseudo-acupuncture also showed statistically significant improvement.  The researchers put forward a possible reason for this.

  • I have actually been reading about acupuncture and it's success.A controlled study( but only small) in England found it to be very successful, but they didn't follow up to see how long it's effects lasted.Cheers Robyn.
  • Hi Chris,

I have a friend who said acupuncture worked for her, worth a try?

  • Hello Chris,I don't have any experience with hypnosis, but I just want to say that I understand what you are going through! I have been having them for about the same length of time as you.I had them before BC,but now I am on Tamoxifen, they have increased in their intensity and frequency.Recently I thought they were easing up,but they are actually worse.A good day for me would be 6 or 8 but it is usually 12 or 15.I didn't get them when I walked, but I do now,and I honestly have no clue why.I am not generally stressed, and I try so hard with my diet and exercise! I have them through the night, and they wake me like clockwork. If you find anything that helps,I would love to know.Take care xoxRobyn
