How do you know what is a side effect and what is nothing much?

I have several health issues and autonomic dysfunction is a big one along with neck and back issues. I’ve been packing to move house so lots of bending etc.
I started Anastrozole about ten days ago and tonight have been very off balance. I get dizzy sometimes, but this is slightly different but could be from the bending and packing.
It is listed as a side effect to see the doctor about, but it’s not getting worse, just making me walk into things, like I’m trying to walk on a trampoline.
Has anyone has this from this drug?
I’ll call the hospital tomorrow if it’s no better, but I’m sick of the sight of the place....even if
  • I experienced some dizzy spells and severe vertigo just after starting an AI. However it was related to my hangover treatment side effects from chemo and ongoing herceptin...not the AI. My blood pressure was low and as it turns out I had some heart issues from herceptin. So yes this is something to talk about but also consider all the treatments you have had.
  • @LibbyA I'm on anastrazole and when I first started on it I got some terrible dizzy spells. I was also, like you, very busy at the time , I'd not long finished radiation, we were getting ready to travel to visit our son in Canada and I wanted to apply 3 x 25kg of dynamic lifter on my garden beds in time for spring growth , which was a lot of shovelling and bending up and down, as well as trying to do many other jobs. Looking back , I was doing too much . I thought I could do it all but the dizzy spells were nauseating.  Try and take it easy and look after yourself.  Also, check with your onc .
    Take care xx
  • Hi @LibbyA

Sorry you are feeling crook since starting on Anastrozole.   I started it about 3 weeks ago (after 6 months on Exemestane & 6 weeks on Letrozole) & apart from my sore hands/thumbs haven't experienced the dizziness at this point in time.

Yep, wise to mention it to your Onc/hosp in case you are having an extreme reaction to it ....

It could be tied in with your bending & packing for the move ....

Take care & all the best.  I hope it settles down for you soon  xx
