Hello

  • Hi everyone out there where ever you are, I had my first cycle of Taxotere on the 17th (12 days ago) after 3 cycles of FEC.
  • I think they lied!!!! they told me that the taxotere wasn't as bad as the FEC I am finding the side effects are many more, last longer and more severe but maybe my body isn't as tolerant as it was to start with. Did anyone else find this?
  • Does anyone have a remedy for the awful taste in the mouth, it is still there after 12 days (FEC didn't last half as long as this and was metallic not this awful taste) , I clean my teeth about every couple of hours and tried eating lollies but nothing seems to help.
  • Oh boy! nails I must be the worlds worst polish putter onner there is, I seem to get it every where and smudge it every time, I try really hard to sit still until it dries but it is never long enough. Tried having it done $25 later ...... it chipped the next day and by day 3 had to take it off, expensive lesson, I might ask around I think I must have been ripped off by these people and there should be others that can do it so it lasts longer.
  • Interested to hear if anyone else has had the same experience with ....taxotere.......taste...........nails.
  • Cheerio for now,
  • Jacqui

  • Hi Ann-Marie yes I did get aches and pains, it was like I imagine it would be like to have the flu ( I have never had the flu) nurofen did help also a hot pack or the electric blanket, I don't know if you have the biotene products but I found that the dry mouth is so much worse with the taxotere than with FEC but sucking ice helped but keeping the spray beside the bed was the best or the gel mind you I used everything, and I can't get rid of this awful taste in my mouth I think that is what is making me irritable because it has lasted so long I am usually a patient person but this time I am not, poor hubby has spent more time this last week in his shed, the more he tries the more he puts his foot in it...............the other day he told me not to worry only 2 more to go and here I am thinking at this moment it might as well be 22 I didn't feel any better. (sound awful don't I)

I also just had no energy up until yesterday but am still not firing on all engines, i don't know if it is that your tolerance gets less each time and the symptoms last longer, I have found each cycle lasted longer than the last.

Don't forget that everyone is different and I can't understand that they told me it was not going to be as bad as FEC if they didn't think it was so maybe I just reacted more to it than some people, I will be interested to hear how you go, hopefully you will be fine, the nausea is there but it is not as bad, but I did feel weak and no energy and did sleep a fair bit.

    Cheerio for now,

    Jacqui xx

  • Hi Jacqueline

I have my first taxotere next Monday after 3 cycles of FEC so I am also interested to hear any tips.  Did you get the aches and pains they talk about?

I have found the worst thing so far to be the nausea and fatigue - oh and my grumpiness in week 1.

    Take care
