Headaches

Hi, Hope you had a good Christmas and start of 2015. I have been having really strong headaches almost constantly for the last few weeks,as with most Things I always think that they may be cancer related Hopefully, probably not. I am wondering if anyone out there knows what sort of test that I may get if it does not stop soon? Thanks, Julia

  • Jessica, I have never heard of luminal? But correct on the other parts of my diagnosis.
  • Hi Julia, I am glad you will be able to see your oncologist and get the problem checked out.

Since you've been on Tamoxifen, and not on Herceptin, I gather you are ER+ and HER2- Luminal A, and I just wanted to pass on that the research shows there is a very low rate of brain mets for this group, (and also for Luminal B), so there are very good chances it will be something entirely unrelated to BC. But it is sensible to talk it over with your oncologist and be sure all is well.

    best wishes

  • I have been able to get an appointment with my oncologist for Friday,so hopefully I can get checked out.
  • Sorry I haven't replied-had to go away to my father in law's funeral.  Now back, I will read over replies soon.  (headaches still there)

    Thanks,

    Julia

  • Hi Julie,

I usually had headache all the times before cancer, like migraine.  It seems to me getting less after all the treatment.

It some times came to visit me, My thought was the mood and stress made myself headache, and sometimes the blood level not good.  Blood flow not reaching and not "enough".

I hate medicine especailly after chemo and now with tamoxifen. So I was very resist of taking Panadol.

May I suggest you, try whatever way to relex yourself, even a good walk and good sweat, a good massage on head and neck.. will that be too long in front of the computer, maybe....maintain your iron level (should check with your GP) take iron tablets, or juice with spinach or beetroot or silverbeet.

If all these self adjustment still unable to work, you have to seek for Specialist for a detail checking.

Take care and Happy New Year

  • Try not to worry Julia,as I feel that most things like this are more likely to be nothing, rather than something.I might be wrong, but I think that the test you would have would be a PET scan.Hopefully someone else with actual experience of this will be on here soon. The blog is a bit quite over the holidays.Try to keep busy;) Cheers Robyn.xox
