HAIR LOSS 4 years after treatment eyebrows especially

Diagnosed Breast Cancer 2015 aged 59  surgery, chemo and radiation treatment plus herception over 16 month period.  4 years clear. But HAIR: lack of growth is my query.
HAIR on head, very thin, sparse on top.  EYEBROWS small amount grew back  EYELASHES small amount grew back.
I have tried pills both through chemist and naturopath but nothing changes.  NO MORE PILLS for me.
My question to others is Eyebrows.  I have to draw them on every day.  Have others done something more permanent, like tattooing and has this worked.  I live in Melbourne.
Thank you everyone.
P.S. being a glass half full person, on the plus side I haven't shaved my legs or underarms for 4 years!!!  :-)

  • I am 4 years post chemo and my eyebrows have never recovered either. I am saving up for microblading. X
  • Hi @gilliegirl4 I know what you mean, I felt the same, they used a technique called feathering on my eyebrows which looks really natural, the prices can vary quite a lot, so do shop around and for sure check out pics of their results, what I did was took a pic of my own when I had them just the way I liked them and asked her to make them like the picture, or you could scroll through Instagram and pick a style you love and get that done.  Cheers Kat.
  • Hi KattyKit
My eyebrows looked different everyday, and though it takes no time at all, they don't look like proper eyebrows, so micro-blading is maybe the option for me.
gee before cancer treatment I never even thought about my eyebrows, Now they take up a LOT of my time.

  • Hi Primek
Thanks so much for your comments.
I have a Body Salon a few hundred metres up the road, and I have been to them in the past for simple things, like nails.  I checked out their photos and I liked what I saw, so coming the New Year I think that is the avenue I will be taking.
So glad to hear you were happy with your tattooing.  That certainly gives me hope.

  • Hi Jane221
    Thanks for your response.
It is almost such a small thing and not a huge time consumer to draw in eyebrows each day BUT you once didn't even think or worry about it, It can take up a lot of your time THINKING about it.  And they look different every day.
People sometimes say it is a small price to pay, and I want to say 'do you want to swap?'  Ssmile:
But mostly thanks for your opinion, that is what I am considering.  I actually was shocked by the price of micro-blading (call me naive) but more than that the fact it IS NOT permanent!!!!
But still it is all worth considering.
Good luck to you moving forward  Gillian  xx
    PS love your cat pic
  • Hi @gilliegirl4, I had a similar treatment regime as you, but back in 2012 when I was 49yrs. Still using Tamoxifen. My once very thick hair has never recovered fully and my eyelashes and eyebrows are still very sparse so still need to draw them on each day. I'm intending to have the brows micro-bladed next year (if I can afford it) and have found someone I think would be good (in Bondi) having looked at numerous options and asked friends who've had it done. Jane xx
  • All hair has recovered except my eyebrows (21 months post chemo). They are shorter, narrower and motheaten. At this point I presume it's permanent and I rely daily on eyebrow mascara. K xox
  • I had my eyebrows tattooed on chemo as I was pathetic at drawing them. It's now 3.5 years and they need a touch up. My sister had naturally sparse brows and has since had hers done (shortly after mine). She needs regular touch ups as doesn't retain the colour like me.

Just make sure you choose someone experienced and can show  pics of their work.
  • Hi @gilliegirl4 I had microblading done on my eyebrows, it has made such a difference .
And I'm  happy not to have to draw my eyebrows every day
  • My hair loss started about 5 years after treatment. I think it was caused by tamoxifen, so I stopped it after 7 years. My rate of hair loss has decreased. I hope some might grow back.

I also have to draw eyebrows every day. I am 70, so I am just thankful to have reached this age.

I would also like to know if anyone has had tattooing.

However, I do get fully formed black hairs on my chin which I have to remove!
