Fibromyalgia weakness

Hi, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 12 yrs ago. For me it can be General muscle pain, headaches, neck pain, shoulder pain & then it can switch to my legs feeling like they don’t have the strength to hold me up. Since finding a link between my Thyroid & Fibromyalgia, with Thyroid meditation my symptoms have improved by half. Its been fantastic.....I have BC & had a mastectomy on my right breast in April. I have been receiving Chemo. The Chemo has made my muscles so weak for 4 days after, everything is such an effort. I end up sleeping days away from exhaustion. My muscles feel like they are just shaking inside. They say I should walk but I don’t have the strength on these days. After 5 days it passes & I feel normal again 🎉🎊....I was wondering if anyone else has experienced my Fibromyalgia symptoms with Chemo & is there anything that you would recommend trying to help ease the symptoms. Thank you 😊 💕

Shudder shudder at the thought of fibromyalgia!
I had spinal surgery 23 years ago and wound up with fibromyalgia.  Hubby just had to tap me on the arm and I would wince with pain.  I had a lot of Physio, which I found painful because of the sensitivity of all joints across my body.
I was under a Rheumatoid specialist and he made me a concoction of magnesium and something else, can't remember now!  We couldn't buy magnesium over the counter back then.
Eventually I gained some fitness and it subsided. I found any stress would trigger it.
Wind forward to Breast cancer and Mastectomy and I could feel fibromyalgia starting up again.  I got myself to Physio, the same one from all those years ago, concentrating on keeping stress under control and trying to maintain and gain some fitness.
    No medication helped for me.
Since Breast Cancer I have had further major surgery and I have managed to keep a lid on the fibromyalgia.
I hope you can get through treatment and bring fibromyalgia under control.
    Best wishes
    Take care and stay safe
  • Thank you PV123 & wendy55 for your reply, I’ll have a talk to my nursing team as the oncologist doesn’t understand the muscle weakness. I’m also wondering about hemp oil. I’ll do some more research. X
  • Hi @Universal, I didnt have fybromyalgia but what I did have was chronic fatigue syndrome for 4 years and 5 months after finally coming out of that I got my stage 4 metastatic breast cancer diagnosis, I also have had a thyroid condition since I was 21 I am now 64, my thyroid has been removed completel;y and I am on thyroid medication, thyroxine t3 and tertroxin t4, I can completely understand your symptoms as thy were almost identical to what I endured for 4 years,I also believe that because of this my side effects to the drugs/chemo that I have been on for 7 years has been exacerbated, had I been a completely well woman, I hoinestly think that I would have managed my symptoms a lot better, I still sleep a lot 12 hours a night and two hours in the afternoon, I get very tired very easily, I just manage as best I can, but take heart from one who knows, I find it very hard to exercise/walk as my legs just dont want to walk, so if nothing else I truly understand what you are going through, I dont want to appear to be a victim, thats the last thing I need, I have just learned how to get on with things and have used all the tools that the medical profession have given me to manage my life,

  • Hi @Universal
i did not have any muscle symptoms with paclitaxel.  The side effects could be different depending on your chemo regimen.  I would speak to the oncologist or the chemo nurses, hopefully they can suggest something that gives relief.  Best wishes.
