Effects of first infusion.

I am 79 Years old and had a mastectomy.   Just had the first AC infusion a week ago.   I have had no nausea at all, but I am quite troubled by feeling very dizzy and woolly in the head.    Is this common?
Bp and temp is normal.   Feel very fatigued.
  • Same thing over here.  Very dizzy, especially the first week after the infusion.  It lessened a bit as I went along.  I made the mistake of trying to ride my horse a few days after the first infusion. Don't do that!  I nearly fell off as soon as I sat in the saddle and I hadn't even moved yet. Bounced off a few walls as well.   The woolly, foggy head is also pretty normal.  I lost my sense of direction at a shopping centre and couldn't for the life of me remember how I had gotten to where I was or where the heck my car was at!
    All the best lovely.

  • I had severe vertigo with chemo. I was falling into walls, doors and anything else which was within reach.
  • Side effects vary a lot. Fatigue is very common and the dizziness may stem from the fatigue. Woolly thinking can also be a chemo side effect but usually the symptoms lessen after the first week. If the dizziness continues however and you feel at risk of falling, take extra care and call your breast care nurse or doctor for advice.
  • Yes, this is normal. If possible have someone around you for the first few days. If you are not feeling right, give your breast care nurse a call. They are trained to help you.
