Docetaxel pain
Hi All, I'm about halfway through my chemo. I've finished 3 cycles of FEC and have just started on Docetaxel. I thought the Docetaxel was better at first, since I didn't seem to get any nausea (a relief after the FEC which made me feel very ill). But now I've started getting strong all over body aches and pains. Even my finger nails hurt. I'm taking panadol and ibuprofen and going swimming whenever I can (which seems to take the pressure off). But has anyone else had this? Any tips on managing the pain? Will it go away or am I just going to feel like this for the rest of my treatment time?

- I have been advised to change from Paclitaxel to Docetaxel because of peripheral neuropathy with the first. My oncologist has warned me about aches and pains and tiredness, but he also said that the hair loss can sometimes be permanent with Docetaxel or can come back only patchy. Has anyone else had an issue with their hair coming back or not after Docetaxel?
- I did four rounds of AC/Chl then did four rounds of Docetaxel. The Docetaxel was the hardest to endure and I had the aches and pains you speak of. My last treatment was 17 months ago and I am still getting better.
I spent lots of my time during the Docetaxel treatment in a warm spa bath. It was the only way I could find relief from the pain. I had endone and other pills but the warm water seemed to help me the most.
Best of luck getting through it. I hope you are using cold caps to try and protect your hair. - Had the hand rash, they tried me on antihistamine but it didn't work. I tried lots of different creams the only thing that seemed to help the hot itchiness was Solugel. But the rash quickly disappeared after I finished chemo.

On Taxol I developed a rash across my hand was horrible red bumpy and itchy!!! Wasnt alot that helped to be honest, Id moisturise it to help and try not touching it. It went away straight after treatment finished. Melinda xo Thanks everyone, you've all been a big help. I think I'm getting my pain under control now, mostly with lots of ibuprofen.
But now I've started developing itchy lumps and a rash on my hands. The nurses at the hospital say it's a common docetaxel side effect, but didn't have anything to suggest to relieve it. Does anyone have any tips? I'm trying not to scratch, but sometimes that's quite difficult.

I like you had horrible muscle pain after my first cycle of Docetaxel. I was really painful and meant I couldn't sleep for the first couple of nights. It did get better. This cycle the pain isn't as bad it feels more like muscle strain than the sharp pain of last time. - Appreciate all your feedback ladies!!!! Dark nail polish is certainly something I'm gonna try!!
Asking lots of questions will also be on my agenda.....washing hands lots too!!!

- @share oh forgot to mention i was diagnosed with fibromyalgia years ago. The chemo ignited it big time omg. Magnesium twice a day and panadol osteo does the trick however best breakthrough with pain ive had since last year is a kinesiologist believe it or not its bizarre! Im 11 months post chemo and still tough.
