Some technical advice. There is a thing called a squatty potty, which is basically an overpriced foot stool that you put in front of the bog to change your position when trying to empty your bowels. It is a 'thing' and getting your knees up closer to your ears does make a difference. You can improvise--there's a use for those old encyclopedia that cost so much you can't bear to throw them out.
The other thing I found useful was a spoonful of very good quality coconut oil every day. I modified mine with Aunty Marg's herbal remedy (which I'm not supposed to talk about) so it also helped me sleep. I used to take it at night when I was getting up for the first of the multiple pees you have to have when you've drunk three litres of water before bed and it seemed to help things get moving in the morning.
