Chills at night

I completed chemo on the last day of 2018, finished radiotherapy in March and had a bilateral mastectomy with DIEP reconstruction 3.5 weeks ago.  I’m will be on hormone treatments for 10 years (I was diagnosed at 40).

Just about every night in the last week, I have been waking up shivering, as if my foobs are freezing.  I also get hot flushes, but it this is mostly manageable.

Would the chills be the body’s reaction to the surgery I’ve had?  I don’t have a temperature.

thanks
  • I haven't had reconstruction so I can't really help with that.  Is the shivering actually because you're feeling cold?  If it's seems unrelated to temperature, you probably should ring the doctor as it can be related to infection.  Or is it to do with the hot flushes - body changing temp drastically?  Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to ring the doctor's rooms and report it.  It certainly can't hurt.
  • Hi @Chev, I had double Diep 11 weeks ago & for about 4 weeks had intermittent body aches & chills, also very bad night sweats which had previously settled down. My GP thought it could have been the anaesthetic as my surgery was 12 hours long & interestingly I had a colonoscopy last week & had aches & chills for a couple of days. Get it checked out if it continues or if you feel unwell.
