Breast pain still 2 years after surgery
Hi, been quite awhile since posting, which is a good thing. I am coming up to two years since had the lump removed and some lymph nodes.......the 12 month anniversary with surgeon all good, and see oncologist every 3 months, so can check with him too, but thought Id ask here first.
Does anyone still have sore breast/s when say getting hugged? I do and don't want to keep asking my husband not to hug me so hard, as its been 2 years.
Am on the 5 year meds too, which are another story in themselves. Hope to hear some thoughts.

I'm 5yrs on from first diagnosis, 2 lumpectomies now, have a massive scar from last year. Had Radio 4yrs ago and only Chemo last year at recurrence. Am on Arimidex. But let me say....since having Radiation, my breast has always been harder and sore and with the lumpectomies YES still sore 5yrs on. Sad reality of treatment, the other horrible side effect from radiation is chest and back cramping, its weird but am used to it now. Hate telling my teenagers to not hug me so tight or my partner, but its painful!!!!
So not abnormal or unusual in the slightest. Hugs Melinda xo - 4 years and l sometimes think the pain is worse now l jump sometimes if lm touched.the pain is more somedays than others. my mum is 80 and had bc at 35 she still gets pain all these years . hey but we are all here.
- Hi Susan, I was surprised at the long term pain I felt in my breast after lumpectomy, and arm, torso, shoulder after losing lymph nodes. Pain on touching, wearing bras, breast movement in activity. I couldn't find a way to regain the confidence in physical intimacy. It lasted 8 years. I wish the medical team had prepared me better to expect it - or to assist me rather than surgical reg in PA hospital saying - 'at least you can use your arm'....I recently had double mastectomy - and the breast pain has gone - silver lining from that procedure. I think perhaps it just becomes part of life and we hope to stop noticing it. Wishing you a smooth journey.

I am post op 3 years. I still have pain in my breast where the lump was removed. They still tell me this is normal and will continue to hurt for a long time. One lymph node was taken I have a lot of pain under the arm too. Continue to battle! - I am 6 weeks post lumpectomy on right breast and about to start radiotherapy Wednesday. I returned to work 2 days per week last week and find after my shifts I get stabbing pains in my breast and feels like it's coming out through the nipple. I'm putting it down to doing some typing at work and of course "working". I figure this is normal as I haven't really done a great deal for work for the first 4 weeks following surgery but it's still nice being able to seek reassurance from here.

After being given the initial all clear at my recent 12mth check up a biopsy taken from my 'other' breast has come back positive for Cancer so I'll be doing the whole lumpectomy & radiation thing - again, grrr :(

I am 2 years post lumpectomy and I am still tender when hugged or doing breast examinations etc. I saw my surgeon a couple of weeks ago and he said that was normal. Partly from scarring, partly from swelling from radiotherapy and partly from cording.
