Bone pain post chemo

Hi, im now 3 &  half weeks post chemo and bone pain is getting worse. Elbows, knees, feet and ankles the worst spots. Trying to keep active but doesnt seem to help. At 52 I now shuffle like I'm 102 when i get out of bed in the morning or after watching TV in the evening. Is this normal and how long will it last. Feels like my hands and feet dont work anymore.

  • @Josephine66 I finished my 5 months of chemo last November. I've had a mastectomy in December an axillary node clearance in January this year and radiation in March and April. I'm now on Arimidex. My joints ache to the point of giving way. Inside I feel like 102 as well. I've got useless hands and don't come near my feet. My chemo brain is still with me but in that area I can definitely feel some improvement. If my body could just fall into place I reckon my chemo brain would vanish.
It sounds ghastly doesn't it, but the pleasures I come across day to day, and I'm always looking, are worth it, still...
  • Have you also started on an aramatose inhibitor as it could be  that contributing. I recall quite a lot of pain post taxol for quite some time and was on fish oil and panadol osteo which meant I was able to walk and exercise which helped as well as dropping some weight as I piled it on during treatment.
  • @Zoffiel I must say every time I see your profile when you post it makes me think of home. Im originally from north east victoria and now on the sunshine coast qld
  • I thought the same re toxins in the body. Its as if its exceeded limit and now spitting pain back at me. Ive started mild strength training this week and trying pilates too. Hoping this will help. Just frustrating when your mind thinks your body can still move like it did before BC.
  • Hi @josephine66 I had a very similar thing happen to me after TC chemo last year. I also had the miseries in my thigh and back muscles. I think there is only so much poison we can take, that's why they set the limits where they are. Plod on, things will get better--exercise is the key, even if it is the last thing you want to do. If you have access to a pool, get in there and use a kick board to help free your joints up. It's possible you will feel exactly the same a couple of hours later, but it will give you some temporary relief and help keep your fitness up while you heal. Mxx
