Arimidex
I have been reading through the blogs about Arimidex and found them very interesting. I have been on Arimidex for 6 months and up until 4 weeks ago, "side affects free" - until now that is.
I now have what appears to be the usual aches and pains in the legs and numbness in the hands, tiredness and headaches, so I guess I didn't escape at all I am just like all my other Arimidex sisters.
I will have to mention this to my oc next visit, but as so many others have said before at least I am here reading the experiences of others. It does help.

Hi Kathleen,
Looking after you Grandchild and being at your Sons' might be putting a bit too much pressure on you. I look after my Grandchildren some times and it exhausts me. I see a Chiropractor when I get really bad headaches from a neck problem but I don't have mets. Maybe talking to your Doctor would help. I hope that you get a good outcome from your e-xay. All the best.

Good to hear from you and I hope that you have an enjoyable time travelling. A change will probably do you the world of good. I am doing a couple of trips later this year and it gives me something to look forward to. I had Cancer 13 years ago and I am still going strong. Even with the side affects I still count myself blessed to still be here. I look forward to each new day and look at things differently and I appreciate little things more. Have a talk with your Doctor and see what he has to say and just enjoy yourself.

I am still coping OK with the pain but it is certainly affecting my mobility and it is good to know that I am not just imagining it or being paranoid. I will stick it out as long as I can because I don't want to turn around and say " if only" if the cancer returns. I am about to join the Grey Nomad army for some months travelling as I have taken early retirement. Hopefully the SE stay within manageable limits but it is good to know that there are other alternatives in medications (which I didn't know) I will just have to bite the bullet and discuss it with my grumpy Dr! LOL once again thank you for sharing your experiences out there - they are much needed and appreciated.Sign in to react to this post
- mrskmlMemberHi Pollyanne58 :-)You may get a couple of different answers here. My doctor has agreed after me trying two of these drugs over three years to allow me to stop. I am still, five months later getting shoulder pain. The pain elsewhere is better, nearly gone, so I'm hoping that this too will end. It's the unknown of permanent pain or damage that finally made me decide to stop. Three years is a good marker if you don't have a recurrence and mine was low grade. I couldn't cope with the way they made me feel along with the pain. I have just starting taking a joint pain supplement along with krill oil and I've noticed a marked difference which is fantastic. I don't understand why we aren't advised of this when we commence these drugs. Not many women that I know haven't experienced pain to some degree on them. I also know a couple who developed trigger finger. It stopped with the drugs which is great news too. It's one of the harder choices to make and applies to your particular circumstance. It is good to have somewhere like here to discuss topics that affect us long after diagnosis.Sign in to react to this post

I have been on Arimidex for about 4 months and am having aches and pains, also putting on weight, seems like the common thing, pity that drugs that help us have to have these side effects. It is good to read other peoples comments at least you know your not the only one with these problems.
Sign in to react to this post Hello Pollyanne,
A lot of Women have complained about weight gain since taking Arimidex, including myself. I have been on it for years and really have a struggle with my weight I also get a lot of pain but blood tests taken recently show that I have a genetic form of arthritis. The look of the Arimidex has changed since I first started taking it and I am not sure what the extra tablet is for but I take it every time. There is a number to ring if you wanted to find out about it.

I am so pleased that the krill oil works for you. I had recent blood tests that show I have a genetic arthritic problem. I take fish oil and will get krill oil when they are finished. The Doctor wanted to give me cortisone and I refused. I think the fish oil does help.

Ellen, I too take the Krill oil tablets as I have heard (and read on this site) that they help. I can't comment on whether they help or not as i am too scared to stop! :)
i look fwd to the side affects slowing down.

Yana,
I am pleased to report that my side affects have diminished greatly, now I can't determine whether they are from the drugs or if I am doing too much and that creates the aches and pains, old age.
I am vigilant in taking krill oil tablets and take one in the morning and another in the evening and wouldn't be without them as this regime is what keeps the aches and pains away I am sure, as when something happens and I can't or don't take them, they are back.
For what its worth the krill oil works for me.
Good luck
Ellen
