Aches and pains on Taxol

I just need to vent.  I had my 5th dose of 12 of Taxol on Thursday and the aches and pains hit me again yesterday which is normal, but they seem to be getting worse with each treatment.  I seem to ache everywhere and then get these weird sharp pains that come and go.

Has anyone else experienced that the aches get worse? Does anyone have any suggestions for keeping on top of the pain.  I am taking Panadol Osteo and Brufen.  I took some Panadene Forte last night but I don't really like taking that.

On a good note, I think my hair is slowly starting to grow back after falling out during AC.  I hope this continues because wearing a wig in warm weather is just so uncomfortable and I don't really like the scarves that I have.

  • I did not have taxol but had Docetaxel which has similar side effects. There is an accumalitive effect with these drugs and the fact is that your body is getting a bit worn out with the regular attack on your good cells too. Check with your onc about what they recommend but I found fish oil and ginger helped with the aches and pains for me. Some people have ginger tea or slices of fresh ginger in green tea. You can drink ginger beer or just include it in your diet. I took fish oil twice a day with meals. I found nurofen worked the best for me, but I also took Endone at night if the pain was really keeping me from getting any sleep. Good that your hair is growing. I had a few hairs that grew while I was still having chemo but proper regrowth took a while. Take care. Deanne xxx
