CanCope - an online program to help those with Cancer, cope both emotionally and physically
Woohoo!! Are you feeling down and depressed with your 'post BC body & mind'? Would you like to access a Psychologist but not able to?
Monash University is running 2 programs over 12 months - for people with cancer, to help cope both mentally & physically with a cancer diagnosis & treatments.
This program gives EVERYONE access to quality psychological help. Tell your friends who have had other cancers too, not only those of us with BC.
There are 2 modules - Mind and Physical - and both are FREE!! Matter of fact you will even be sent some $$ for taking part! The CanCope team are a group of researchers and mental health professionals with an interest in cancer.

You can read reviews on the programs here:
https://cancope.weebly.com/reviews.html
Or you can just contact the chief psychologist directly (see email address on the 'flyer' or the 'explanation sheet', Page 1)
I think this will be invaluable for many of our members who normally can't access a psychologist ...... so don't be shy - give it a go! ANYONE can do the programs, so long as their 'active treatment' has been completed.
Even after this program has finished, chances are they will be replaced by other similar programs.

The two CanCope programs
The two programs are CanCope Mind and CanCope Lifestyle. If you take part, you will allocated to one of the two programs (however, by the end, you will gain access to the content from both programs!) |

- jjen_80MemberI was involved in this study too. I was allocated to the CanCope Mind program and to be honest, I found that it was really great!! I wasn't sure what to expect but it provided me with great ways to cope.. eg. I loved the mindfulness module! Regardless of which program you get, you get sent the OTHER program as well!.. so it seems to be quite fair.
- arpieMemberYou can also contact Isabelle direct with any queries that you may have ..... she was a big part of the team that formulated the program.

- arpieMemberTerrific, @PV123 - good to get some feed back!
I was going to sign up but in Nov, it coincided with when I was trying to get hubby diagnosed (driving all over the countryside to find specialists he could see ...) and since his diagnosis we’ve been on the chemo treadmill ever since ..... so just haven’t gotten around to it! :(
I would love to hear what others think of it, who did it .... I fully understand the time factor being a pain, in the questionnaires ... but if it helps formulate a plan for future cancer survivors - all the better
take care xx - PV123Member@arpie, I got the username wrong sorry.
- PV123MemberHi @arpiet
I have done the program and found it very useful. I was allocated the CanCope mind. The material is very useful, the questionnaire that needs to be completed every time you do the activities is a bit tedious. I also asked for the material for the CanCope lifestyle and was told that this would be emailed to me 3 months after completion. I would definitely recommend this for anyone with cancer. - FLCloverMemberNo problem @arpie 👌🏻. I just have to recheck it cos it was a while ago and I’ve forgotten
- arpieMember@Dory65 @FLClover ... can you message me as to why you weren't a suitable candidate?
- arpieMemberHow did everyone go who did this program? I’ve heard that quite a few from BCNA took part!
I’ve asked if it is ‘ongoing’ and will let you know if it is! - FLCloverMemberWill do 👌🏻
