Switching from Tamoxifen to Arimidex

Hi all

Has anyone done the switch from Tamoxifen to Arimidex? How did you find the change? Better off? Worse off?

I know every person reacts differently to medication but would like to hear your experiences.

If you had side effects, did they settle down? How long before side effects kicked in. Im starting my new tablets tomorrow.

I have tolerated Tamoxifen very well for the last 2 years, but my oncologist would prefer I move to Arimidex now that im fully menopausal and also believes it will be more effective for my overall circumstances.

Thanks

Angie

  • I've been taking Arimidex for seven years. I have experienced two main side effects 1) ongoing fatigue, loss of vitality. This kicked in almost immediately. 2) very tender feet after three years, good days and bad days, limits my mobility. I've tried a variety of prescription painkillers and other treatments but nothing makes any difference. 3) Stiffness, aches and pains 4) bone density has decreased.
Sounds a bit grim, however, we are all unique and what causes severe problems for one the other may experience very little change. Its a case of trial and error.
