Hi annie i believe that if you have ovary removal then you would be given the AI drug leterzole which does not have the uterine implication. All the best as MO will give you the correct info

I've been taking tamoxifen for almost 5 months now, after my bilateral mastectomy last November. Due to my BRCA1 gene mutation, I'm going to have my ovaries removed as recommended by my oncologist. I met with my gynaecologist last month and explained to me about the surgery. Then she asked me if I want to have my uterus removed as well which I wasn't prepared to. My oncologist have mentioned about the 1% risk of uterine cancer due to tamoxifen. And now I'm torn if I'll also have my uterus removed and do both procedures. Any thoughts?
I'm meeting up again with the gynaecologist next month to organise my surgery and need to decide if will be doing 1 or both. 
I've joined since January this year, and through reading some of the posts here made feel normal to what I've gone through last year. My first time to share.

it certainly is a back and forward conversation I'm having in my head lol My mother is on Aromasin due to the fact of her risk of blood clots.  Just have to wait on what the oncologist comes up with.

It is all about being aware and asking as many questions as possible.  We all have the same diagnosis, Breast Cancer, but our treatments are unique to us only!  As to the sentinel node, my surgeon had told me prior to surgery that the plan was to take it and 2 others, he called these the guards, to check on what was happening in my system. 
Your overall medical history will certainly be at the forefront as they come up with the best plan that is unique to you. I gather from your comment that you haven't got the results from pathology as a result of surgery.   You can't worry about something that you don't know about yet!  Easier said than done!  Just be aware and have that ongoing list of questions for your team, take a deep breath!

@bevvzy. I had been on Warfarin for 17 years prior to being diagnosed with my breast cancer. I was taken off the Warfarin and put on Clexane injections twice daily for the biopsies and then kept on that during my six months of chemo. 12 Weeks of AC therapy, followed by 12 weeks of Taxol and Herceptin...the Herceptin will continue for another few months yet. I am having my surgery in threed days time (double mastectomy with full none clearance on the left and sentinal nodes on the right...possibly more on the right, depending on the pathology whilst I'm still in theatre). So I'm still on the Clexane until after the surgery, and I too, will go onto hormone blockers afterwards. Don't know yet if I'll stay on the Clkexane (ouch) for the next ten years, or if they'll put me back on the Warfarin...depends if the hormone blockers muck around with the INR I suppose. I've also had PE's and repeat DVT's, (even on Warfarin), prior to this particular Sh*t Fest.

Hmm. A lot to think about. I have grade 3 idc. Mastectomy last week and highly probable lymph node involvement as looked suspicious to surgeon so he decided against just the sentinel. I dont know if chemo but i do know already hormone therapy. I am a paraplegic and have a ling history of both dvts (leg clots) and PEs lung clots. Am in permanent warfarin so not sure what they will use

@iserbrown  i saw the word clots and thought wtf!!  I have hornone pos idc. Mastectomy last weej. Probable pos lymph nodes as were tsking sentinel only but as several looked suspicious they took several nodes. So chemo mat be looking a little more likely now but i already know will be going on anti hormone.  Then i see the word clots? I am a paraplegic and so have gad a number of dvts and akso pulmonary embolisms. Havw been on warfarin for same several years now. Wonder if can have the hormone treatment?

Nads - good luck with your consult with the Oncologist with regard to hormone therapy.  Having the added complication of clots will no doubt complicate the decision making process.

I too am up in the air on taking tamoxifen I am seeing a gyno this afternoon on ovary removal to stop my oestrogen production and oncologist has said I may not need to take them and we will look at this after radiation I'm totally confused on the whole tablet taking
