- melclarityMember@BoraBora so im nearly 3 months now on Aromasin. I have to say initially nothing changed it was the same. However now i do think im strangely better but i wonder as im nearly 20 months post chemo now so side effects are lessening and improving. Seeing a naturopath has been a major turning point in my recovery something they just dont do well in the medical profession is working with your recovery. Plus an Exercise Physiologist that has got me moving and flexible and strong in my core. So many contributors. Im currently in recovery post surgery revision from mastectomy diep flap recon in feb but doing well. So things change as time passes and honestly now i dont think about it overall am aok
- Lyn11MemberI have been on Arimidex for 7 years now and the joint pain is now more just an inconvenience and only occasionally. Is mainly in my hands. I walk every day (usually around 5k) which takes about an hour but as we live in North Brisbane the weather makes it very easy to get out and about. I am certain that the walking has eased the hip and knee pains. I was struggling on the Arimidex to start with and had severe mood swings but after the reconstruction (Diep) 2 years ago I sort of had an epiphany, lol. My whole attitude to life changed and I couldn't be happier. I really like being me and I am in a very happy place and I love my new body!!! I give thanks to my plastic surgeon every day lol.
Stick with the hormone treatment if you can. It does get easier :) - BoraBoraMember@melclarity Hi Melinda was wondering how you are going on Aromasin-My surgeon wants me to try it for 4 weeks to see if I tolerate it better than Arimidex (severe hand joint pain/trigger fingers). Have been off Arimidex for 6 mths and pain is getting worse -anxious about trying another one . Janette x
- nikkidMemberYou too sista :)
- DandelionMemberOh you both are very supportive xxx and inspiring xxx thanks xxx
- nikkidMemberI agree with @melclarity - recovery has been so much better than for my mastectomy! 7 weeks post-DIEP now and I returned to Pilates! I was walking (initially not for too long and extremely slowly) every day from the time I got home from hospital - today I did 1.81km on the treadmill at 4.6k speed and for 25 mins! It's all about taking it slow but steady.
I have found @melclarity an inspiration along the way (she's 4 weeks ahead of me) and I hope we can provide support to you as well xxxx - melclarityMember4 months?? wooooo No, depends how in shape you are too and how you bounce back post surgery. @nikkid actually bounced back better and quicker than me. First few weeks are super tough a shuffle to the kitchen was progress, but honestly everyday you get better and better. Im surprised how well I have recovered. So honestly, I believe you'll do great! :D xx Melinda
- DandelionMemberWow your amazing @melclarity, I was told it's 4 months recovery . Your smashing it
- melclarityMember@dandelion I am kicking butt!!! back to work in a week, that will be 12 weeks Ive had off, but Ive been working hard with recovery, healing, putting me 1st!!!! exercising with my physiologist and now diet. Its a tough few weeks but you heal fast and honestly Nikki and I both love our result, its better than I could have imagined. Plus a new tummy LOL
Exactly youve had the mastectomy, no recurrence...see you later I say!! :D You'll be fine! step at a time x - DandelionMember@melclarity that would of been a bloody shock to have a recurrence. Like you but in reverse Iv done the mastectomy and radiation (woot woot 3 to go ) so there's no boob left for it to recure.
how your feeling now ? Are you up and recovered or do you still have to take it easy from the op?
Carnt wait for my diep
