Effects of taxol.

I am 79 years old with triple negative.  I had a mastectomy and have completed the 12 AC treatment.  I am now on week 7 of taxol and have a few issues.  Apart from the diarrhoea, beginnings of neuropathy, skin rash, loss of taste I find I have just about lost my voice.  Very hoarse and croaky.   Is this a normal effect?  Has anyone else had this and what can you do.
  • Hi eewart, Well dome for getting through AC treatment, that’s a tough one... I to had triple negative BC , was diagnosed in 2018, had dense dose AC, then 12 rounds of Taxel, and 30 rounds of radiation. I have come out the other end with positive results.

During Taxel I had feelings of  neuropathy but that feeling went away from one week to the next before next treatment. The last two treatments of Taxel I had at a reduced dose due to neuropathy  staying with me. Good news is that since finishing treatment I have had no side affects of neuropathy, oncologist will monitor you closely.
I didn’t have any diarrhoea through all of my treatment, but knew of others that did.
Loss of taste and feeling tired especially towards the end of treatment.
I don’t remember having lost my voice or being hoarse or croaky, just ask your oncologist at next visit, or call your breast care nurse if concerned.
Sorry I can’t be of anymore help.

You’re nearly there well done, radiotherapy is a breeze compared to chemotherapy.
Any other questions don’t hesitate to ask.
    Sending gentle hugs xx
