Yes Lyn, 3 and a bit years down the track , sorry the advice was a bit late , I'm only on here every few weeks. So sorry you had such a rough time  :'( but a lot of women don't make it through 12 rounds of taxol so don't worry. Good luck getting all the other stuff under control.This time next year it'll all seem like a bad dream. Take care, J x

Thanks for that.  It apparently caused thrush in my mouth and throat which is being treated  Oncologist took me off taxol after week 7 due to neuropathy , diarrhoea, nausea and so on.  I thought it would be easier than AC but I found it harder.  Maybe my 79 yr. old body has had enough abuse!?   Take care.  I assume you are over all treatment and out the other side.     Lyn

Hello @eewart. I had the 12 weeks of taxol and yes my voice was croaky straight after the infusion and for the next 3-4 days , then it would come good and then go again after the next dose. It also upset my tummy and bowels .
I used to take slippery elm powder in water before my infusion and this helped a little.It coats your throat and also your gut.
 I iced my hands and feet to prevent neuropathy , there's lot of chat on here about that if you pop it into search.

Hi @eewart, I also just about lost my voice at around the 5 week mark, I was very croaky and couldnt work out why.  One oncologist said it was the taxol.  I have completed 18 weeks of taxol about 3 weeks ago and my voice has gone back to normal.  Still have neuropathy in hands and feet. I still have diarrhoea as well.  Taste has not yet gone back to normal but hoping that will improve soon.  Best of luck with everything.

Good luck with all of it! Cold therapy may be worth trying - most neuropathy gets better after treatment but if I had my time again I would try it! I also got AF - which put me in a bit of a spin for a while. A Heart Condition! Seven years on, it’s made remarkably little difference in my life and is easily managed, so take heart (no pun intended!). A cardioversion is pretty straightforward and there are also other treatments. I have been on beta blockers and blood thinners now for several years - a couple of pills a day and I live normally. Hi @eewart there is a post here on tests and treatments about using Cold Therapy to try and stop neuropathy during Taxol chemo. A few of us have found it good to keep the worst at bay so we can finish treatment. Basically just ice and latex gloves at its simplest while you have your transfusion! Good luck with it all.

I called it a roller coaster ride, ( I’ve never liked those rides).
It certainly is a shock when you have had no indication that you were unwell in the first place, no family history, thank goodness for mammograms. That’s the only way mine was picked up, I had no signs or lump that I had breast cancer.

I tried to find a positive in every negative, if you look hard enough you can find them. Keep yourself around positive people, look after yourself listen to your body.

Thanks for the information.  Can’t believe the end is in sight!   The AC put my heart into AF  and I am lining up for cardioversion in a couple of weeks.  It all seems like a bad dream for someone who was so fit and healthy!    Looking forward to getting back there.  I guess no one can believe it happened to them.
