@kmakm I believe the exercises do help with urgency. I think it would be worthwhile to ask your GP for a referral to a pelvic floor physio. Mine (in the public system) has been superb. Each time, she has done an internal examination (they call in another physio as a chaperone, who stays behind the curtain). She can measure all the relevant factors. She said that 50% of women who do exercises don't do them properly. She taught me to do them properly while her fingers were in there, to ensure the correct process. I had been doing it properly, just not in the correct rhythm and frequency.
Twice a day, lying down: keep breathing normally. Nobody should be able to notice that you're doing it.
Hold for 12 seconds, rest for 5 in between. Do that 30 times.
Then hold for 1 sec, rest for 5 in between. Do that 20 times.
I count them off on my fingers. It's actually quite relaxing. I do it when I first wake up (after a loo visit) and set an alarm for 2 pm.
