Thanks Robyn, yes been spraying glen 20 everywhere and wearing a mask but unfortunately I got it , temp ok so will ring oncogist today and just keep taking my temp

Thanks Jane, going to ring oncologist this morning just to let them know I now have a cold :-(( see what they have to say, took my temp and that is ok 

I'm with Tonya on this!! You can catch a virus every time you walk out the door!! I had 2 sick teenage boys during chemo.I isolated myself as much as I could from them.I had my own toilet and shower.We were obsessed with hand sanitiser.We used glen 20 every day,everywhere!!! No hugging or touching at all,and try to stay one metre away from whoever is sick.Use disposable gloves in the kitchen,or wherever they might be.Twice a day,wipe down surfaces that are shared such as bannisters,bench tops etc.with glen 20 spray.You could also wear a disposable face mask.They are very light and easy to wear.Open windows to allow fresh air ventilation.All the best.Robyn xox

Hi Glynnis, put your hubby and son together and sleep in another bedroom -try to keep your distance from them, lots of hand washing,wear a mask.Check your temp day and night and if it goes to 38 or you feel unwell,go straight to hospital.It's hard isn't it but you can't take risks, especially around day 10 when your white cells are at their lowest.Ring your chemo unit and let them know as well. Hi Glynnis, it's really tricky when your own family get unwell while you are going through chemo. Although you can be really vigilant with hygiene etc you unfortunately do run the risk of getting an infection. My son (8yrs at the time) developed chicken pox during my first chemo and I ended up being hospitalised for a week as my white blood count was almost non-existent. It would be good if your hubby and son can be looked after by someone else for a few days. If that's not possible, call your oncologist and let them know the situation as they might need to prescribe you some antibiotics or other medicines and might have some other suggestions for keeping well. Hi Glynnis, my advice is to move out or move them out. You cannot afford to get even a common cold at this point. Your white cell count is at it's lowest and you are ultra vulnerable.  Dont risk it. Call someone to look after them if need be but keep clear for at least the next 7 days. Good luck and keep well. Nicole x
