Just a bit stressful

Wonder if it's just me or is it that the Xmas and holidays seem to get a bit stressful seems that things get you down at this time of year or is it that this bc journey makes us look differently at things? Seems that people have to cope with more at this time . Maybe I've had too much chocolate and am on a downer lol.. Just thought I would ask and get a few thoughts on how others feel. I've got a visit to radiation dr coming up so suppose all this par for the course. Thanks Deb

  • Before I was diagnosed with BC, I always found Christmas stressful. I suffer with depression and anxiety and my GP says it's one of the hardest times of year for some people. Just too stressful. This year I chilled out and let family take the reins for me and I did manage to enjoy the day itself. I sometimes wonder if it's also because families who don't see eye to eye feel obligated to get together and it's all a bit tense. So comercialised too, cheers,

  • Yes,my Christmas was abit stressful and I wasn't looking forward to it.My hubby thinks I'm turning into ba humbug Scrooge! My mum is deteriorating with liver cancer and my brotherinlaw found out just before xmas that his brain cancer is returning so yeh,bit of a downer around here. Some years are better/worse than others at Christmas. Mich,I hope you are ok after surgery. Is it on the alien boob?Your poor hubby getting redundancy right on Christmas.      Big hugs  Tonya xx

  • I was diagnosed in November 2012 had my 1st surgery on December 14th and yes Chrsitmas 2012 was stressful, I had a daunting future ahead of me with treamtnets looming and was scared it may be my last christmas. I asked my husband to take loads of photos of me with the family and I put myself under pressure.

Christmas 2013 was fantastic,  3 surgeries done, chemo done, radiation done in full remission from Breast and Renal cancer, I celebrated and felt no stress, in fact I missed a couple of doctor appointments as I just plain fogot!

So I suppose the answer is it depends on where exactly you are at on your journey and how much pressure you put on yourslef.

    Sending you hugs
