Thank you Samantha for your welcoming words and guidance. The information in the kit is very thorough. I have a head full, or so I thought after walking out of the oncologist apointment thought my head was going to explode. Just full of loads of information, I have ventured into a new world I know nothing about - but having to learn super fast. 

I am not getting in that rollercoaster just yet, will be hanging out on the bumper cars, speeding around and getting prodded and poked for a while longer. Before I start chemo.

I thought about it today - I will meet some amazing people, I may also lose some of those amazing people as they journey along their cancer path and on to the other side. I haven't thought so much about so much in such a short space of time.  If that makes any sense. ;-)

OMG A great big hug from me to you. I came home after my oncologist appointment, and your words were exactly all I needed to hear. Thank you so much.

The club that no one wants to join, made me laugh straight off - yes I agree with you there.

I felt like I asked a million questions and got a million answers. I should have taken hubby, but he had already taken days off to come to appointments with me. Told him I'd be right, now in hindsight he will be coming to my next oncologist appointment.

My new harmless extended family - shall I call you aunty ShirlO.

Maria you may call me anything you want and thank you so much.  Glad I made you laugh, I have a rather strange off-beat sense humour as the others here will tell you.  You use more muscles in your face frowning than you do smiling so I can't have you wearing out your face too soon !!!

As I said, we are all here to help each other, and with the experiences you are having now, in the future you will be able to help someone else.  I guess it's a bit like networking, but in a genuinly "nice" way.

How did you go today with the oncologist, has he given you any indication of treatment and a time-frame for it to happen.

Hey ShirlO, I got enough wrinkles already, so I will take your advice and keep smiling.

I sense we have a few things in common, one in particular is sharing the love and joy of life.

Got a plan with the Oncologist will start chemo once the children get back to school and after I have had a squillion more tests.

Thank you again for your kind words, have a great Easter break and have some chocolate. I have already started with the chocolate lol.

Welcome to a wonderful place of support.  I see you have been given some great advice already!  

I am only a few steps further than you and my children are only a little bit younger (9,6,4 - G,G,B).  The early days were hard on the kids - they all coped differently and surprised me a little too.  We have answered their questions as honestly and openly as we can - used resources we've been given too which have helped and mostly just involved them in what is happening and dealt with what it's thrown our way when it's thrown!  

I second having someone with you at appointments and I also carry a special notebook in my handbag - for writing my own questions, notes, appointments, business cards and for my hubby to write down what the Dr's say. Remember there are no stupid questions so ask away.  

It is a complete whirlwind at first - then all of a sudden it's a bit routine - I am only now coming to terms with my diagnosis and wondering where the "journey" is going to take me.

I have only just stepped foot into the world all the people here have been experiencing.

I have told the children, though seeing as it has been school holidays it has not quite hit home as yet. Also the fact that they have not seen a physical change in me.

I have a notebook, it's getting quite full, lots of questions and thoughts coming to my mind.

Well you just remember I am right behind you. So you better set a good example for me - okay!
