Funny story
Hi, I posted a blog some time ago about a patient at the hospital who mistakenly thought my partner was my son even though my partner is 4 years older than me! I thought it was humerous, couldn't see the sense in being offended. Well, it happened again. When I was in hospital a nurse was talking to me and I didn't really hear the first bit, so didn't respond. Then she asked 'well, is he your partner or your son?' Graham was sitting beside the bed and I saw him put his head down. I replied ' what? of course he's my partner'. I knew I didn't look my best as I had been quite ill, puffy eyes from crying etc. But really! He has long hair but his beard is grey. She tried to make amends by telling me it was really a compliment because it could mean I was a cougar:) When she left, I looked at Graham and all he said was 'toy boy'. My 2 girlfriends came up to see me the next day and when I pointed out the nurse and told them what she'd said, one them said quite loudly, 'Oh Mum I hope you're feeling better soon'. We all burst out laughing, it really picked my spirits up. Needless to say, that's the running joke in our house. I think we have to look at the funny side, lucky my ego isn't too big. I will be 54 this month and my darling 'toy boy' will be 58 in August. I don't know what some people see, but perhaps they just don't think before they speak:) Take care ladies, hope you are all travelling ok,
Hazel xx
