99 Year Old Breast Cancer Survivor

Whilst in the hospital on the weekend, I was in Emergency next to a spritely 99 year old lady (she turns 100 in two weeks) who is a breast cancer survivor. Still lives by herself and does all of her own cooking! Absolutely amazing!

  • My mum had breast cancer 27 years ago ... Had one radical mastectomy with lymph node removal and at her 6 month checkup it was found in the other side so the process was repeated.... She is still going strong... She is also pleased things have advanced so much that I have more choices, and there is greater support. Her experience in part contributed to my decision to have a bilateral mastectomy....
  • This is what I need to hear! All too often you hear the horror stories of recurrence etc but we do need to keep in mind that this is not always the case!

I wish they made these types of cases more widely publicised. It's not false hope, just hope!

  • Always good to hear of long term survivors. Thanks for sharing this story, all the best, great smile you have,
