- AineGMember@fairydust Hi, Do you have a breast care nurse? I found mine very useful to drop a text to and she would point me in the right direction and organise appointments if necessary.
WRT general check ups outside of any issues I seem to be seeing my oncologist about every 3 months and he surgeon and radio oncologist every 6 months all alternating to result in two monthly check ups on average. - melclarityMember@fairydust Is the area on your breast from radiotherapy? then agree Radiologist. Once you finish all treatment, somehow you end up bouncing between your Surgeon and Oncologist LOL. I see one or the other every 3 months, Im monitored closely due to having had a recurrence. It then will stretch out eventually to 6 monthly then yearly. They will coordinate it all. :) Hugs Melinda xo
- primekMemberHi @fairydust I woukd think your radiologist might be appropriate for this issue. Ring that office and ask. If really inflamed, of course attend GP or emergency dept.
- fairydustMember@Afraser thanks for that. My surgeon totally confused me as he stated I would see my oncologist one last time and then see him for ongoing checks. Saw the oncologist and gave me an appointment for several months ahead. Oh well will sort it out. I had cellulitis in the breast previously. I have finished radiation 5 weeks ago and area of the breast is soft and lumpy not right. Will get it checked out maybe by GP.
- GlemmisMemberHi @fairydust, I finished chemo in Feb & developed a sore breast on other side so rang my surgeon & she saw me next day & performed an ultrasound. I am seeing her every 3 months & oncologist every 6 weeks. Not sure how often I will see radiation oncologist as am only just finishing radiation. I think your surgeon would be best as they can perform any tests if you need them, depends on what the problem is.
- AfraserMemberI saw my surgeon and oncologist once every 6 months, scheduled so I saw one of them every 3 months. I could of course see them more often if there was a problem or go to my GP as required. Now that I am 4 years on, scheduled visits are every 12 months, so 6 months between seeing someone. I expect this may change again after 5 years. But you should see someone if you have any concerns at all. Not sure who though, depends on the problem, maybe oncologist as first start?
