Vit D

Curious how much vit D is everyone taking?
I've taken 2000iu daily for years as I'm fair and work long hours inside. Levels always great... Last bloods showed dramatic drop. I don't know if that's due to Arimidex. The GP said just take an extra 1000iu daily, oncologist today said better to get sun every day!?,( um long inside hours/ Melbourne). Also told I now have osteopenia ☹️ But boobs are good

  • OK got up and went for a look. Gotta luv no short term memory from chemo brain not. I take 1000 iu daily of D3.
  • Thanks ladies. I guess il just up it until the next blood test. Your compounding script is a great idea Jane (hopes and dreams),il look into that.
Gosh Melinda(melclarity), how annoying and disappointing for you ☹️ . Enough bloody challenges I say! Xo

  • I take 1000 since I finished Chemo as told by the Nurse in charge of Oncology. Thing is majority of the population actually have low Vitamin D, its not unusual at all. It further plummets through Chemo. Mine was low and 3 months after chemo I had bloods done, it was super high and I take Arimidex, so that definitey doesnt affect it. I do wonder though, even with high Vit D levels, my bone scan revealed 6 months after Chemo that I had Osteoporosis in my neck and lower back! chemo related they said GRRRRRRRRRR. So now have prolia injections twice a year. Melinda xo
  • I've always been low in Vitamin D and try to stay out of the sun which doesn't help. I have a compounding prescription and take 1 capsule per week which is 25,000 iu.  I had a recent blood test which put my Vitamin D in the normal range for the first time.  Jane xx
  • I take the same. Like many women, my Vitamin D level wasn't flash before I started treatment so I was on a crash course which tapered off a bit after the first few months.
  • I take 2000 as just can't get enough sun at safe times. An extra for a time won't hurt to get levels back up even if you can manage a bit more sun.
