Thought I was done with surgery
Thought I was done with surgery. The decision to have chemo first and then a lumpectomy seemed to be the right thing at the beginning as I really had no idea - so took the advice of my oncologist and surgeon. Chemo first, shrink the tumour and then have surgery.
Surgery of lumpectomy and four lymph nodes removed seemed okay after having gone thru. chemo. I was quite nauseas coming out of the anesthetic so I had to stay in hospital an extra day till I could keep food down and they could remove the drip.
I was happy to be home and remove those darn hospital socks. Still black and blue around my breast and down my side, I have a haemotoma that just needs to settle on its own. Rock solid and painful, but manageable with panadol.
Two weeks after surgery I have returned for my biopsy results. Clear margin around breast tumour but there is more cancer in the lymph nodes. So it seems more surgery.
As my cancer is hormone positive it was suggested by my oncologist that I have my ovaries removed as well. Seeing as I had problems with nausea after last surgery maybe do both at the same time.
So now I have to have more tests on my ovaries, more appointments and see another surgeon. Not to mention more dollars spent.
So my team of specialists is getting bigger, my patients is wearing thin and my boredom and frustration always having to rest and do nothing but heal is driving me bonkers.
So that is my update, sorry its a whinge again.
