The good, the bad and the potentially very ugly
This week has been a mixed bag. I visited my oncologist for my annual check up and all was good with my follow up mammogram and ultrasound and tumour marker blood tests and my bone density has even improved! The not so good news is that my blood sugars are high so that’s being followed up with my GP. The potentially ugly news is that I’m sitting here waiting to go in for a bone scan as I’ve been getting some strong pains in my back over the past month or two and despite trying to wish it away, it’s still happening. Handing in my referral with the words “to rule out metastasis” is sending my stress levels through the roof ☹️

My pain was found to be a combination of bulging discs and enthesopathy of glutes and hamstring tendons. Very painful and it takes a while to settle. Mine is less painful now but still niggling and impacting life (and sleep) a bit. But so much easier to cope with once you know what it is NOT.

Take care - Thank you to everyone for your good wishes and thoughts, they must have helped as I got the news today that there was no evidence of metastatic involvement - I could have kissed my GP when she said that! The pain is most likely a combination of "being riddled with osteoarthritis" and what appears to be enthespathy (or inflammation of the tendons / ligaments between my spinal discs) in the area that's been painful. I'll take that as a win and celebrate with the kids tonight accordingly! Jane xx
